About
Marvel at the rugged beauty of Cannon Beach against the backdrop of Haystack Rock jutting out of the Pacific coast. Walk on the soft sand all the way to the mouth of Ecola Creek to spot Tillamook Lighthouse at a distance. While you’re at it, don’t miss the Cannon Beach History Center & Museum. You can camp overnight to discover all the attractions in the area; light a bonfire by the beach to stay warm. At low tide, walk out onto the sandbar to get closer to the sea stacks. Visit in June to catch the annual sandcastle contest. – Tripadvisor

    Beach Please
From Hawaii to Maine .. The Caribbean and everywhere in between this is one of the most beautiful beaches I have been too. Haystack rock is absolutely stunning and if you get the chance during low tide make sure to go tide pooling. The sand is clean and at night time people have bonfires for miles, Loved It.

    Lovely time at Cannon Beach
We spent an evening and the next day in Cannon Beach. The OR tourist map compared it to Carmel, CA so it had a lot to live up to! We drove to Ecola which was just beautiful, had a nice dinner downtown, saw an elk on the way! The next day was very drizzly/rainy and perfect for a walk on the beach where I collected 3 cool rocks. We went shopping in the fun stores downtown, and then headed southeast to return home. I would love to go again and stay longer!

    Stunning views
Breathtaking beach with Haystack Rock at its center. It was quite windy and misty (probably due to the heat) when we visited but the views more than make up for it. Close to many restaurants and stores in the town as well.

    Spectacular Beach
Visited on a Friday in September. The weather we almost perfect, not a cloud in the sky, but a cool breeze coming from the North. We parked near the government buildings and walked down. Soft sand above the high tide mark, hard-packed sand below that made walking very easy. Saw a few on Beach Bikes and they were having a great time. Haystack Rock is quite a sight, along with the other jagged rocks sticking out of the water. Very photogenic and a great walk!

    Wonderful beach
We arrived here after exploring ecola state park. I didnt realize cannon beach is a small town, park and you walk to the beach. The day was sunny with a slight breeze, many people there made it better, so you could chill and people watch. The view of haystack rock is the highlight, i photographed it on both sides so you got against the sun and a shadow of it with the sun. This is a really nice place and very clean. We spent about 2 hrs here just strolling the beach and just standing in awe at the surroundings.

    Probably Oregon's best beach
We parked at the dead end street by the beach in front of a house no one was in. That was enough to see our car from beach while we took a half an hour walk. Beach was beautiful, wide and long, very joyful to walk even with little drizzle. Haystack rock close by, and Tilamook rock lighthouse in a distance - awesome

    Haystack Rock
We spent the afternoon in Cannon beach, public parking was only a block away, walked the beach, HayStack Rock is incredible. We arrived around 3 pm, lots of people but the beach is huge so you don’t feel crowded at all. It’s a must see! We were there May 30th.

    Good Family Beach
This is definitely the beach to be at with the kids. The sand is nice, it's clean, and it's huge. You have the added bonus of Haystack Rock to look at. With all of the houses and resorts and the busy area in town, this is very much the popular beach town. It was big enough that we had plenty of area to wander around this nobody around. Back home we go to Lake Michigan and when it's summer, the beach is packed. Here, even when it was busy, there was plenty of space.

We stayed here for a weekend during October 2020, at an accommodation right on the beach.

Highly recommended. At least in October, the beach was never overly crowded.

The beach is VAST, both long and deep. It’s wonderful for long walks. It was a photographer’s paradise: the light constantly changed as the weather changed, the sky was big, the beach was full of interesting rock formations that all held fascinating and beautiful forms of intertidal life. The sea breeze and the crashing waves were most relaxing.

This being the (gorgeous, highly recommended) Oregon coast, don’t go expecting lots of sitting in the beach, playing in the water, etc. While you could enjoy some sitting (a few people built small fires at night), this is more of a walking beach. It’s just gorgeous—a real highlight of our time in Oregon.

The town of Cannon Beach is a nice destination, too: some interesting art galleries, some fun touristy shops, and some good restaurants.

Quaint little town on the Oregon coast I can be pricey and very difficult to find lodgings during High season. Booked your hotel months early if you plan on going in the summer. A few decent restaurants and lots of buzzing around. You probably don't need to spend more than one or two days here however

Cannon beach is a wonderful place, very clean and very large beach area. The famous monolith is very picturesque and when the tide goes out you can look for starfish and other creatures in the tide pools near it. The town of cannon beach is really cute too, with candy shops, restaurants and art galleries you’ll have plenty to do off the sand too.

We definitely would have enjoyed staying longer at Cannon Beach but parking is very limited. We were able to get out and take a few pictures of the lovely Haystack Rock but the shopping area was extremely crowded with little parking. We went on a weekday thinking we could have more time with less crowding but that was not true.

I loved this beach .. wide open plenty of space to walk .. I would get up early to get my coffee and walk the almost empty beach!

In the evening it gets busier! We loved how you could just dig a hole and light a fire and watch the sunset .. it was the highlight of my trip and we got to see a whale jumping in the ocean❤️

We love all kinds of beaches, but do have our favorites. Cannon Beach is just an enjoyable experience. The beach is so BIG! If you stay down near Webb's Scenic Surf (which I highly recommend), you also get a creek on your beach. Combine the beach with the town and it adds up to one of my favorites places to visit.

Cannon Beach was absolutely breathtaking! Not only was I reliving some of my fondest Twilight Movie scenes, but I was taking in the Pacific Ocean and Mother Nature's landscape. The Haystack Rock, which is the focal point of the beach, was absolutely massive. When I first gazed on it, my heart skipped a beat and I actually said "oh my god!" The shear size of the rock will literally take your breath away. It's like its own unclimable Island. Lol. We got there around 930am on a Sunday, and it wasn't crowded at all. We found parking at the top of the hill and walked it down the boarded steps. People were walking, running, with their dogs, and it was just majestic. I hope to make it back there again! Enjoy the photos. ✌️

Cannon Beach is one of America’s best beach. This towering giant of a rock is fabulously breathtaking! I am amazed by the natural beauty of this place. The entire beach and the reflexion of the wet sand is a natural masterpiece. A must visit place in Oregon.

Unspoiled natural beach, be sure to visit at a low tide to see the beautiful critters in the tide pools near Haystack rock. Sunset is absolutely gorgeous and we were lucky enough to see whales migrating off-shore in mid-July. The sand is packed, so you can walk for miles comfortably.

Well, I won't make an invention, by saying, that Cannon Beach is a Must See when you visit Oregon for the 1st time! (Even when it's not your 1st time lol). Haystack Rock is just amazing.. and the beach itself is beautiful especially during sunrise and sunset. Sun is setting right behind the ocean and the rock.. so you have nice silhouettes and beautiful colors if you are lucky! And the sun is rising right behind the town, from the mountains, hitting the top of the rock first! Consider, that there is always more people during the sunset compared to sunrise. Also, if the weather is good or it's a summer time, again expect many people out there..
When you visit Cannon Beach, it's also a good idea to visit Ecola State park (less than 15 min drive from there) and the Hug Point (again less than 10 min drive from Cannon Beach). Both are very nice and in the same area!
Cannon Beach as a town itself is also nice, couple cute restaurants and cafes to visit and just have a little walk in nice summer days...
As a photographer, I go there many times each year.. So if you are interested to learn some nice images taking there, I can help you with that as well! :)
