For a smaller zoological attraction the Isle of Wight Reptilarium is jam packed full of fascinating insects and reptiles, which are very well looked after! The reptilarium is well worth a visit if you are holidaying on the Isle of Wight, as for our party of four adults it was only ÂŁ24 (ÂŁ6 per person) which is great value for money in my opinion and a fair bit cheaper in comparison to other animal attractions on the island. I love this place, as there is always something new to see in spotting a creature that might have been hiding or sleeping on a previous visit.

A lovely little place set in a beautiful location. They have a great collection of reptiles including snakes, geckos, terrapins, skinks etc. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. Nice little find

Wife and I popped in here, as it used to be an aquarium, so we were interested to see the transformation. The lady (and owner) was in a full witches outfit (it was half-term) and greeted us with enthusiasm and warmth.

Although some of the creatures hide themselves away in their 'terrariums', those that we did see were terrific. Our favourite was the bearded 'lizard' (so handsome).

Recommend buying some food to feed the terrapins in the pool at the back; a real treat.

Please find the few pounds to give them your support.

So, we visited in Sept 2022, and was pretty disappointed, ÂŁ6 each for about 5 -10 mins, has about 20 geckos, about 10 snakes, and a few other things, the terrapin enclosure is pretty large. Dog friendly. It's good that you pay and can go in and out as many times as you want in that day, but not sure if I would want to.
BUT, this is just my opinion.

Hi, thanks for your opinion, we have 33 enclosures housing 33 different species spread across four themed rooms. If you spend a few minutes looking at each animal and reading its accompanying information as most people do, you can spend an hour or more enjoying the reptiles, amphibians and inverts that we house in the zoo. If you do it in 5 minutes im afraid to say you havent allowed yourself enough time to enjoy the experience.

The Isle of Wight Reptilarium is a great place to see a range of reptiles in large naturalistic enclosures. From various lizards, to rare snakes and loads of turtles too! The animals looked happy, healthy and not stressed out, unlike lots of other zoos with reptile enclosures. Staff were informative, and the giftshop was well priced (compared to many other zoos!). I'd recommend the Isle of Wight Reptilarium to anyone! ÂŁ18 for a family of 4 is well worth it!

Even though we have lived on the island for over 10 years this was our first visit to Fort Victoria and the Reptilarium. We found it very interesting and spent time reading about all the reptiles housed there. It was also fun trying to see some of the exhibits as they were so well camoflaged. Great addition to spending time at Fort Victoria. We will definately look to take our grandchildren with us next time thay are visiting.

We visit the Reptilarium regularly to satisfy my snake-loving son's obsession! Personally I love watching the terrapins bumble around in their special sanctuary and feeding them is good fun too. It's so great that they have all been saved from such a terrible fate. The rooms of this interesting building are beautifully decorated and the owners are lovely and very informative. It is one of the few places on the Island that does not charge a ridiculous fee in return for an underwhelming experience; it is worth every penny. Well worth a visit when combined with a trip exploring the rest of Fort Victoria.

The little reptilarium is a fab little place with a surprising amount of animals. The different tanks for each reptile has great little info panels and there’s a couple of displays about the island - the archeology one was a big fan.

You can go through the whole place in under an hour, but to really appreciate the info you might want more. Given the size of the the place there’s a lot, but for a little kid (like ours) there needed to be more interactive things to keep her really

Lovely gift shop also.

Great for somewhere to go on a rainy day, but as others have said - it really doesn’t take very long.
Feeding the turtles is the best bit.
The fort itself has a strange shop and a cafe (we didn’t go into) there are lots of walks and it is on the coast.

Thanks for the review, try us on a sunny day too as then you can explore the beach and the forest. I hope you liked the strange shop :)

A great little place, well worth a visit.

Although you wouldn't spend all day in the reptilarium, when combined with the beach/BBQs/cafe/other attractions here it is easily a whole day out. The very reasonable price reflects this. Parking is free.

My children enjoyed it very much and covid 19 requirements were followed. We'll be back :)
