The walk is very short and the location is just off the main road so I would recommend taking the time to stop. The tree is amazing and there are also educational signs with information about how such a tree is formed.
Curtain fig tree is impressive (although not as impressive as its cathedral sister down the road). It is busier as its closer to town, but it is well worth your time and I would recommend a visit to the town whilst you're there.
