Beautiful park, Shame people do not respect social distancing!
Apr 2021
Beautiful park, Shame people do not respect social distancing! Lots of beautiful flowers, squirrels, trees, a pond, birds. But people come too close to you, do not wear masks. Totally suicidal and dangerous. Plus teenagersè behaviour was anti-sociala trying to run over squirrels and cycling close to people unchecked.

Rude Staff at Coffee shop
Mar 2021 • Friends
Coffee shop, I was in the coffee shop in Saturday with my friend and the lady who took our order was very abrupt and rude with a bad aggressive attitude plus she did not have her mask in properly. The other 2 staff preparing the order at the back were very friendly and helpful.

a dog ran over to my child off the lead and tried to take his teddy!
Feb 2021
This morning I was walking through the park with my children. My son who is 3 years old was carrying his teddy, and whippet dog came running over and mouthed the teddy, my children were extremely scared. The man just stood to the side saying come on to his dog, and it took the dog a minute to go back to its owner. I am extremely annoyed. Not only do I feel my children could have been hurt, they were also scared. I have had to take my sons teddy off him to be washed in the washing machine, and luckily it isn't damaged. This incident has really upset me and my children. I don't know who else to take this complaint to. Something needs to change, this could have ended differently.
Numerous times I have been in the park and I have seen dogs off the lead, chasing the geese.

Lots of rats
Jan 2021 • Solo
Rats!! Lots of them. Over the past few weeks I have been noticing rats, they seem to be becoming more confident. It's a bit worrying when there are so many rats out in the daytime when there are people around.

Park lovely - staff rude
Dec 2020 • Family
Visited Queens Park today. The park is lovely. Lots of even paths to walk on and a lovely chance to feed the ducks and squirrels. Play equipment was safe abs well maintained.

We visited the cafe however and found the staff to be really rather rude and unhelpful. I understand that we are in covid times however there is no need to be rude when we don’t understand the rules of your establishment. Perhaps you signposting better.
There is also no point in wearing a mask that is resting under your nose, especially whilst preparing food and drinks!!

Beautiful
Oct 2020
The park has been a real tonic, especially on bright sunny days, during this awful year. The cafe has served some good drinks and snacks under covid rules.

Where did the 6 million Lottery grant go?
Nov 2020 • Couples
I’ve known and visited the Queens Park for many years. Crewe is very fortunate to have such a place and it is one of it’s better features.

When it was built circa 1888 it cost £10000. Allowing for inflation that’s under 1.3 million today. In 2014 a makeover was carried out with a 6.5 million Lottery grant.

The first thing visitors will see on entering the main car park is an unfinished, unsurfaced, potholed, puddled, parking area almost unfit for purpose. You carry the wretched wet limestone mud on your shoes, pushchair wheels etc. into your car when returning. When crossing the road from the car park to the Park entrance you have to dodge the traffic. An accident waiting to happen at this busy crossing point? Why no safe crossing point???

So what happened to £6.5 million that meant there was nothing left to finish the Car Park and have a safe pedestrian crossing? For 6 years it has been like this and no sign of it ever being finished. Whatever excuses there are the fact remains that the makeover was a fine example of getting next to nothing for a vast sum of money that makes the likes of Webb and Moon (the railway engineers who were responsible for the design and build of the Queens Park circa 1888) appear as genius’s at getting the most out of the £10000 it originally cost to build. They could have built 5 Queen’s Parks in their day for the equivalent cost of the 2014 £6.5 million that the makeover cost.

Somebody, somewhere, should be ashamed of what greets visitors when they arrive at the grotty area that is called the Queens Park car park and that’s my point. I guess if it ever get’s a finishing surface and a safe crossing point that’s long overdue, will they also introduce parking charges to pay for it having thrown every penny of the Lottery grant into the Park lake, the Pavillion, the bridges, and whatever little else in the makeover you can see.
