Not sure why this is not listed under things to do in Garmisch Partenkirchen if the Zugspitze is as it is right at the foot of the mountain and very easy to reach from Garmisch by bus. In any case it is a fabulous 2.5...More

We visited this lake in the late spring and this past weekend. It's extremely picturesque and gorgeous. We brought our dog here to swim and to walk around the frozen lake. It was amazing both times. Very quiet and relaxing.

I visited this lake twice in 1974. Once in the summer when the crystal clear glacier fed lake was filled with swimmers and canoes. While hiking around the lake we watched fish far below the surface. Once on New Year's Day when it was totally...More

This was originally an afterthought as I had already planned on visiting Zugspite but now I would rate this as a CAN'T-MISS on its own! Simply the most stunningly serene, clear, beautiful, varied, sparkling, colourful lake I have every experienced. You will get the most...More

This is a beautiful lake I visited after doing some hikes in the area. The water is very clear and you can see all the way to the ground. Just walk a little and you will come to places that are quite and unused. But...More

After the Zugspitze, we took the cable car back to town, but spent some hours hanging around the lake, swimming and tanning. There are tons of trails around the lake if you are not too tired. Be sure to watch the time though, the last...More

A beautiful spot for a walk (4 miles around the lake) with amazing views. Take a picnic as nowhere to stop and buy food or drink on the way round.

Visit this lake left me indifferent. The lake does not have an own parking and shares the parking with Zugspitze tourists. So it makes mess, no spots even already by 11 am. If you are planning to visit Zugspitze go as early as you can,...More

Unfortunately, not that I know of. I'm pretty sure the bus networks will get you there, but we have always had a car. I guess you could take the train to Garmisch, then the Zugspitzbahn to the Eibsee. I guess I would... More
