Latta Plantation Park is great for kayaking, hiking, picnicking, and just hanging out in nature. It's on the outskirts of Huntersville and borders Mountain Island Lake (just south of the damn from Lake Norman). There's a great spot to launch a kayak or canoe. There's...More

Wanted to check out the trails and ended up walking about 5 miles of trails. The trails were shaded and many going along the water. There were several places to sit and enjoy the views of Mountain Island Lake. There are equestrian trails, an access...More

We use the lake access for kayaking and it's easy to access and put-in for everyone. It's in a nice cove and the other areas are fun for stopping on the way in or out.

Nice little spot with a lot of local history. It speaks to how our ancestors lived and farmed. It only takes an hour or so for the tour.

We arrived a 10.15am and the gates were still closed (they should open at 10am). Unfortunately for us a large group of schoolchildren was also waiting to get in and when the gates were eventually opened these kids stormed the office/store so it was very...More

Before going to Latta Plantation the is a possibility for some walking trails about half a mile before the Plantation site. Several trails are discribed at the start. Maybe better if the distance was mentioned.
