Saw a few people snorkeling but hadn't seen much. It's a nice experience if you want to lay on the beach and get a tan this is the place. However felt that it was a bit overrated.

Definitely take a tour to Nakupenda (it means ‚I love you‘). We went from prison island to nakupenda and back to stone town for a tour. For more information you can contact Juma (‭+255 774 701 580‬). He’s a really good tour guide!

great for watching fishermen and other boats coming and going. Easy to get a boat to take you out to one of the islands. As a single woman felt quite safe walking along the beach
