When here last night 9/19/2021 for the reopening of the theatre. The play being performed was Smokey Joe's Cafe. A great musical variety show with lots of great music. The actors and musicians were first rate, outstanding singers and dancers. The band was equally great.
My real complaint comes with the stage sets. Part of seeing a play is not only the actors and musicians but seeing beautifully built and staged sets. I have seen this play multiple times both on and off Broadway and here it definitely fell short. The sets for this play looked as if the were built in someone's garage , consisted of nothing but plywood, two by fours and metal pipe. Paying full price for a ticket and a long time supporter of this theater I thought it's loyal fans deserved better from management.

Our group of 94 traveling senior citizens really enjoyed Margaritaville performance. This is a quaint theatre providing great entertainment. The theatre is large enough to be comfortable yet small enough that all the seats provide great visuals and hearing! I would highly recommend this theatre!

My group of 6 really enjoyed the show this past weekend - I love you, you’re perfect, now change- at the Engeman Theater in Northport, NY. While the theater is cozy and quaint, the seats are surprisingly comfortable- more so than any Broadway theater I’ve ever been in. The acting and singing was also top notch! I can’t wait to return with my husband for a future show!

We came to see Beautiful as a family. The play was amazing. Everyone loved it. All the seats in the place are great. We went on Saturday at 8pm and the first was $95 per seat. We also used the Valet Parking after the show it took about 20 minutes to get the car. It wasn't bad at all.

The performers are always at or better than broadway. They have a certain freedom that allows connecting to the characters. The theater is not small yet may have that charm and closeness to the performers that allows for a more absorbing performance. Theater critics may explain this better. But compared to broadway, the same show at Northport is more fun.

We are Season Ticket holders and always enjoy the top quality and professional performances. Every aspect of the Engemann Theater is excellent- from the well-run complimentary valet parking (but they always deserve a generous tip!), the nice bar/snack area, the incredibly talented performers, the very talented musicians, and the kind and helpful staff- we are always guaranteed an enjoyable and fun experience. The choice of plays for each season is always outstanding. The Theater has been such a positive addition to our Northport community. I am very grateful to have something of this caliber only minutes away from home!

First time at John W. Engeman Theater saw The Million Dollar Quartet...great show!!! Definitely like Broadway, without the price tag. The theater is lovely, seats great. Staff very personable.

A beautiful theater with friendly staff and top notch quality shows. I definitely recommend getting your tickets. The full bar in the lobby is great for a pre show and/or intermission cocktail.

Boutique theater. Graduated seating, so there is not a bad seat in the theater. Saw Sunset Boulevard at this theater. As good as both productions of this show on Broadway, and the seats here are only $75!. Very pleasantly surprised at the quality of this production! Will go back again.

HI, I am flying in from outside the country to see ONCE via either JFK or La Guardia. From the airport what are my best options to travel to Northpoint NY and the John W. Engeman Theater? Car rental? Train? Bus? I will look for lodging in the area. I am thinking late February, or early March, but will buy in advance. Just need to plan my travel route and lodging. Thanks for your assistance!!

Car rental is best. Otherwise you would have to take the air tram to the Jamaica Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) station, then the Port Jefferson line of the LIRR to the Northport train station and then take a cab to the theatre. The return trip would be the same. It is very time consuming and very cumbersome.
At the theatre, there is plenty of on and off street parking as well as theatre-provided valet service.

The Ritz on Woodbine Ave by the waterfront has one of the best values for dinner. Several restaurants along Main Street offer $10 lunch specials.
Skippers and Bistro 44 offer dinner and show packages.

Trying to plan a trip to Northport and see a show at the JW Engeman Theater, this or next month. Travelling from Virginia, planning on using the train. It appears we can take Amtrak to Penn Station, then use the Long Island Railroad to get to Northport - Correct? Suggestions. Once in Northport, suggestions on where to stay? Planning to use taxis, are they available? Really don't want to fly, rent car or drive up from Virginia. Thanks - Lobo

Yes, if you take Amtrak to Penn Station, from there you can transfer to the Long Island Railroad and take that to Northport. There are taxis available at the train station, and our Box Office staff would be happy to call you a taxi back to your hotel after the show. We also have Uber. The closest lodging to the theater is the Chalet Inn & Suites in Centerport, about a 7 minute drive. I hope that helps! Please feel free to call our Box Office if you have any other questions.

We were at Jekyll & Hyde and it was amazing. Great view from row I, seat 106 & 107. Question...are there sections with more leg room? My only complaint. Was extremely uncomfortable. Would gladly pay up for more leg room.
Written 17 April 2017
Yes, there is one row behind the main aisle row G. But it is in great demand and impossible to get into unless there is a cancellation at the last minute.
Also in front of the main aisle is a handicapped row with removable chairs. But the next 2 rows towards the stage have more leg room too.
