I was looking forward to visiting the Seaweed centre and nothing disappointed. I ended up staying back speaking to the staff about Tanzanian industry and history. I loved that it was a non-profit and supported their local 'Momma's' who created the soaps down to the...More

You can enjoy and see the process of the seaweed in a nice place which opened in 2011. Can explore the benefits of seaweed and drink fresh juice and buy some soaps to help the community there.

A must visit when in Zanzibar. Sadly it is not advertised by the tour companies. Fortunately for us, we stayed at the African Sun & Sea and the Sea Weed farming beach was a few minutes away from the resort. The beach is beautiful and...More

How important for local woman trying to be independent from their fisherman man. They keep all the business to themselves. They all need to stay in there and devellop maybe more into food

Friends visited this place in January and rec it. If you like to support local enterprise, this is the place to go. If you go when the tide is low (we didn't), you can actually go see the seaweed in the water, what it looks...More

I never knew that algae and seaweed are synonymous. If you can endure the heat, while the tide is out, walk through the seaweed growing stakes to begin the tour. The planters, harvesters and soap makers are friends of the environment. They use an abundant,...More
