These ruins of the first school for freed slaves is on the grounds of the Mbweni Ruins Hotel Stop in their lovely restaurant for a coffee (excellent) or a meal and wander amonfg the ruins

Our taxi driver to Jozani Forest stopped here. We met some local little boys and read the historical plaques. You have to 'imagine'

Would not do a special trip to them , but we passed them on our way to Chumbe and it is something to see the sheer size of the old palace.

Mbweni Ruins Hotel. Accomodations were great, views were amazing. The restaurant here is not so good though. Wait times of 1 1/2 hour for food. If you stay here, I suggest eating elsewhere.
