While the museum is not very big, it does hold some really cool memorabilia from the worlds fair. It also houses a huge map of many burrows of New York City. All free and All worth checking out. When I visited they were turning over the gallery exhibits resulting in very little to see in the museum.

I am giving two stars for an amazing exhibition of memorabilia of World Fair, for a model of city of NY and water sources and for Tiffany’s lamps. There it ends. First, what kicked me in eyes were big letters “Bienvenidox” or so… As my husband’s mother tongue has a latin origin, he was utterly offended how someone has the audacity to alternate his mother language. Second, the memorabilia of the World Fair are almost hidden in the museum and the statement that the historical World Fair where could literally participate every nation by presenting their culture was a reinforcement of capitalistic white men and their sexism and racism is scandalous. Third, museum is open from 11am-5pm, yet while we were there enjoying the information about the Fair, the guy with the vacuum cleaner came to do his business. I really do not understand this approach and not understanding historical circumstances of particular events, but I definitely know, this shouldn’t happen in institutions which are supposed to educate. Do better Queens museum!

We stopped by here because we had some time to kill before heading to JFK. We were interested in the area as the site of two World's Fairs (1939-40 and 1964-65).
The staff working the front desk were very friendly. They told me the best place to start is the Panorama of the City of New York exhibit and it was great! If you know who Robert Moses is, it was no surprise to learn that he was behind this 1:1,200 scale model of the five boroughs. It was fun to find my daughter's building in the exhibit!
After the panorama, I checked out the World's Fair memorabilia exhibit. Lots of knickknacks affiliated with both fairs. Then, I headed back downstairs to see what else there was to see. Unfortunately, they are in the middle of a remodel so there was no art to be seen. I did head over to see the Relief Map of the New York City Water Supply System. This was interesting to me because my daughter is working on an article about the Croton Aqueduct. The only other thing beside the book store to explore for us was the Tiffany Glass exhibit. I would love to go back someday to see the museum fully operational.
The one drawback for me was the gender neutral bathroom - not because it is gender neutral but because of how it is laid out (the men's urinals are in the open and the first thing you pass when walking in- no privacy at all for the men using them) and because it was filthy when I was there.

This museum has no idea what it wants be. History museum? Art museum? Food pantry?
The building is extremely small with very few exhibits. The most interesting, by far, is the “panorama” exhibit. It’s a scale model of the entire city, built for the 1964 worlds fair with a ridiculous amount of detail. I honestly don’t know why more people don’t know about this, it was fascinating!
The rest of the exhibits seemed like afterthoughts. They only featured art from one single artist. I don’t really understand art, but was disappointed to see that even my family members who do understand art left scratching their heads.
While we were there, there was a food pantry set up in the middle of the museum. I have no problem with this: in fact, I was glad to see New Yorkers stepping up to help the needy. It just seemed to me to add to the identity crisis of this museum.
All in all, the Queens Museum is worth a visit. Just don’t expect to spend more than an hour there.

PARENTS BEWARE! The museum promotes gender neutral restrooms. That means your young daughter may have to share the women’s bathrooms with biological males or walk past men at open urinals in the men’s restrooms.

The museum focuses on temporary exhibits and the ones we saw were fine (but not particularly memorable) but the few permanent items were fine, especially the scale model of NYC as of 1964. The museum is next to a large, pleasant park.

We went for the World's Fair exhibit -- including the panorama of NYC. Well worth the visit; wish they had more World's Fair items on display though.
We also walked around the old fair site, including the New York pavilion, which seems to be undergoing some stabilization. My husband went to the fair as a kid and always wanted to go back.
Loved the Tiffany glass exhibit. The other exhibits were interesting; they give you a glimpse into life in Queens today.

Free. Scheduled a timed entry just to used bathroom. Turns out to be lovely! The New York panorama is wonderful. My 7 year old son enjoyed, we used the audio guides via the QR code on the walkways which were super helpful.
Loved the Tiffany glass art exhibit. Wish they had the explanatory video playing in an area where you could sit and watch it in its entirety! Bathrooms super clean.

This is a small museum with a few small rotating art and photography exhibits. Some of it is a little edgy and modern. Some a little bizarre. One of the exhibits I saw today was on the gentrification of Queens. This museum also has a permanent exhibit of the 1964 World's Fair. Some pretty neat memorabilia.
This isn't the biggest or fanciest museum, but entry is free (currently timed tix you can buy online). Also, there is a huge panorama of NYC built for the World's Fair back in 1964. It is HUGE model that takes up the entire room. There is a walkway, part of which is glass, that goes all the way up and around for a full view.
You'll never see a thing else like this anywhere else, and again, it's free. So even though it's not the biggest or the fanciest, it's worth a visit. It's also adjacent to Flushing Meadows Corona Park (also reviewed), so you can take a walk outside and see the unisphere and other monuments. The second floor so the museum also has a wall of windows facing out toward the park, so you can sit and admire the view.

I was here for a meeting last week. The museum is beautiful with historic displays of Queens and NYC. The museum is a little out of the way, and it is confusing to get there by public transport. Would I recommend? Yes, esp if you are in Queens.

I'd say two hours is plenty, unless you have a lot of interest in a particular exhibit. Be sure to visit the funky little gift shop--lots of great stuff.
