Just because it was difficult to find, we felt we had achieved something just getting here! It's small but does achieve a sense of history and the views are great. I doubt it will ever be crowded and that is part of its charm.

A good place to orient Lewis & Clark fans. The view from the top is worth the 5 to 10 minute side trip.

Each time I go to Dillon, I make sure to stop here! I love the history here and I love taking people with me to experience it. If you're in the area, take a few minutes and stop here!

I was there today. Dillon has two exits from the interstate, north exit and south exit. The south exit into town is near a new small shopping mall. The north exit to town has two very nice lodgings and a large, vacant wooden building. The...More

Located near downtown Dillon. Takes 2 minutes from parking lot to top of rock. Nice view of Beaverhead River with roads and agricultural areas detracting; it's NOT the way Clark saw it in 1805. Nevertheless, if you are a Lewis and Clark fan then this...More

Cool little hike. It is a history on Lewis and Clark. Beautiful view of Dillon, Montana. We stop here when going to Utah on Vacations.

There was not a whole lot to see, but my husband wanted to take a look. They have a large amount of information before you start climbing the hill to see the cement compass. There is a fair amount of parking that is free while...More

This little state park has the usual Montana park amenities, a good hill to climb, and a great view. Just be sure to talk to a local who can help you find it! Google maps doesn't have it right; the entrance is on the North...More

This is just a very small park on a bluff where Clark took compass readings and mapped the surrounding area.

Great place of historical value to just drive a short distance and take a walk. It's a kind of "lover's leap" promontory overlooking Dillon, Montana where William Clark stood in 1805 and took sighting to determine direction for the Corps of Discovery. This area was...More

I have never heard this referred to as Lovers Leap, but Clark's Lookout is well marked and easily accessed. A little care is needed in town to make sure you get the correct road north but once on it (to the right of the... More
