Finished in 1908, this Lake Superior 39-room mansion enjoys a rare, intact collection of original furnishings and art. Because of that, it closely resembles the days when the Congdon family first occupied it. Truly, it is Duluth's answer to Downton...more

This attraction is operated by the University of Minnesota and employs many students to explain the various rooms of the large home. The Congdon family is interesting and I suggest reading up on it a bit before visiting, if possible. The gardens, both flower and...More

For $24/person, the Full Mansion tour should have been at least a fun and informative experience. We were bored and our guide didn’t seem interested in giving tours or being around people. When he wasn’t griping about the slow pace of projects at the estate...More

We enjoyed this tour immensely. Everything in the house is original and as it was when the owners left the house. Our tour guide was knowledgeable and answered every question. This was a highlight of our Duluth experience.

Take a journey to the history of a wealthy Duluthian. This mansion is full of local history and wonderful antiques. Nothing was spared in the building of this mansion and grounds. Truly wonderful guided tour. Did I mention the murders that took place here?

We did the full tour and highly recommend it to anyone. The grounds, the mansion are all amazing. UMD has done an incredible job preserving and restoring this estate, whether it be reconstructing, repairing, or recreating various furnishings, decor, or structure (construction). Besides the shear...More

We did the classic tour. Tour was interesting. The guide was okay. I’m glad we stopped here as it was fun to tour the grounds more than the inside. I really enjoyed all the paths and bridges and landscaping. I don’t know if I would...More
