A trip to Duluth is not complete without visiting the lift bridge. Watching ships come in or crossing over and going to Minnesota Point.

If you are in the area, this is a must-see. Fun for the family - good for educating everyone about the world's largest freshwater lake. Be sure to walk the pier and get close to the ships.

The bridge can take a while to go up and back, its interesting to look at but not something to plan a trip around. There is plenty on the water front to check out while you are there.

We took the harbor cruise ans got to cruise under it, twice. How fun to see it and learn how little effort it takes to move it thanks to engineering.

We were staying across the bridge, and walked into Canal Park from the hotel. We noticed from a distance that the bridge was up. It stayed that way. We approached and admired it, and all of the mechanical bits, and finally a huge laker came...More

Where I work I can see the bridge. I watch the lake boats go in and out of the harbor. It's an amazing view.

There are boat tours of the harbor and lake-we've taken the Vista Fleet tours and found them interesting. You can fish from shore along the lake or harbor. Brighton Beach at the north end of town is great for picnics... More
