A colleague of mine owed me a round of golf (because he makes stupid bets), so he suggested we try TCI since neither of us have played here before. I assumed for two green fees and a cart he was going to pay through the nose. But no, on a random Wednesday it was $85 for the two of us, and the guy in the clubhouse threw in a couple sleeves of balls for the heck of it, too. And the course was in pristine condition. Neither of us played particularly well, but the views alone make it all worthwhile. It's a very humbling course, so don't waltz in here thinking you can shoot under 100 if you are a typical bogey golfer. Regardless, for $42.50, this is hands-down the best weekday deal in the state of Iowa. Fore!

Think I may reviewed this earlier but can't say enough about it!
Play the course, the best around, have a great meal, the best around, then stay at the hotel and do the same thing the next day.....Utopia!

There is snow on the ground in Minneapolis in late March but no snow here in Polk City. We left Mpls. Wednesday morning and teed off at 11:20 a.m. We enjoyed the course so much we came back the next morning and played another 18 holes. If you have never had the opportunity to play this course, we highly recommend it.

I have been a guest to two events at the clubhouse. The clubhouse is a beautiful building in a beautiful setting. It overlooks the championship golf course. There are very nice new homes built around the edges of the golf course. The food and drinks served in the clubhouse were all first rate. The golf course was very busy both evenings when I was there. It is a beautiful place.

Chorizo taco is great. Plus new craft beers. Made this an even better place to do e. Upper scale quality on medium price.

Recently visited the Tournament Club as part of a wedding party and was mildly disappointed. The golf course itself looked outstanding, my husband was dying to play. The accommodations the club made for a wedding party was less than desirable: club did not inform couple that a state tournament would be taking place the same day as her wedding/reception, held at the course. Not only were women tracing in and out of the locker room, the only place that the bridal party had to get ready, they also did not reserve the bridal party any golf carts for pictures nor put up signs directing either event where to go.
IF booking a wedding reception/ceremony here, I'd suggest the couple ensure no events will conflict with their day. Talk about chaos.

Just played it for the first time and was amazed, not far from Des Moines, $40 after 3 o'clock. Well worth the short trip, very pretty, very fun, very well maintained. Pretty hard so play forward tees and bring plenty of balls. I will be back soon

The course sports 4 sets of tees: Legend - 5039, Deacon - 6113, Palmer - 6516, and King - 7001. Choose wisely!

This track is target golf on steroids. Personally I enjoy target golf but this course is brutally penalizing if you miss any fairway or geen - even by only a few feet. You will find yourself with lies that will have you speaking foreign languages.

Being long off the tee may be helpful at times but being accurate is helpful on VERY hole. Due to the severity of punishment for missing fairways and greens, pace is play is horrible. It took our foursome 5 hours to get around and we weren't even dogging it. I suggest bringing lots of balls with you.

As for walking...DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT!!! Because of the steep elevation changes and distances on many holes from green to next tee, walking this course is almost unheard of. Even the Senior PGA Tour gave up on this course after 2 years due in part to the walking challenges. That said, the setting offers surprising views for this Central Iowa location (especially holes in the valleys). The value is decent and the scenery and wildlife views can be rewarding.

Just be prepared for your scorecard and ego taking a big hit.

You have to play this course twice to really enjoy the challenge. The first time the course beat me up. The second time I knew what to expect on each hole and was able to shoot an 81. 98 the first time. Put this course on your list to play. It is well worth your time and money. I took my 12 year old grandson who shot an 76.
