This is a replica of a building made out of logs in the 1800s. I believe they said It is the largest log structure than a home in the world. The original building was made by pioneers in only three weeks. It was rebuilt about...More

In the spirit of full disclosure, we are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and visiting this site, as well as the LDS sites in Omaha were our primary reason for visiting the area. This is a very small visitors center...More

We visited the tabernacle and learned a lot, mostly about the Mormon Battalion. The 24 minute video is well worth the time, I had heard of the battalion but had no idea of the some of the details. The tabernacle was also very interesting.

The older LDS couple in charge could not have been nicer, more welcoming, or more informative about the history of the Mormon battalion and other parts of Church history related to Council Bluffs. Very worthwhile for anyone interested in U.S. and/or early Church history.

Kaynesville Tabernacle serves the LDS community and is an important memorial to the mormon migration. Kaynesville (now Council Bluffs) served as one of several encampments in the area.
