My mother my two kids (7 at the time and 10 months in a carrier) and I enjoyed doing the 1000 steps. The air was fresh and it was satisfying to get to the top. We even met some people on our walk and shared...More

A great walk with nearby eateries either a drive away or short walk to the 1000 step cafe. Bring comfortable shoes and also be mindful that it is much cooler, so a jumper may be required. BBQ facilities available with a children's playground.

I love heading out to this walk when I feel like getting away from the city. Only about a half hour drive and the forest in the Dandenongs is beautiful. The only downside is that often it feels like half of Melbourne also like doing...More

Its been said before, but i'll say it again: Be prepared to sweat! A round trip, there and back, for a novice is about 1 hour. Wear good shoes, I recommend walking boots, but some of crazy peeps do it in runners (but those nutters...More

Went to do the 1000 steps for a work out and was pleasantly surprised with the memorial and individual stories of servicemen. It is quite a climb so be sure to wear good shoes. You can drive to the top to see the memorial instead...More

I finally made it here after years of saying ‘we must walk the 1000 steps Kokoda Trail’! I had no expectations except that I would walk ‘1000 steps’ ( I actually read there are only about 700 steps though). It felt good ticking this one...More

We sort-of stumbled across this when taking a wrong turn but really enjoyed the challenging steps uphill & reading the various notes on the way. It was a part of Australian history about which we new nothing. Great views from the top

I’ve been to the 1000 steps a number of times and always appreciate the beautiful greenery and chance to spot some native wildlife. It’s not an easy walk by any means but it’s a doable challenge, with many areas where you can stop to catch...More

Beautiful, easy walks with excellent access routes for families. The entrance is easy to miss, so drive slowly or else you'll continue on a main road and not be able to turn back easily

Have you recently checked your fitness level, if not, visit this place and try 1000 steps. Please advise that if you are having serious illness, better to avoid this place. This is more a fitness track than a tourist attraction. If you are not able...More
