If you want to see spectacle in an opera, this is the place. I travel back to Chicago from Florida once or twice a year to attend an opera with my sister - most other houses just can't pull it off. Wonderful sound from a...More

The short version: this is a classic Grand Opera Venue. They stage eight conventional operas per year, a mix of the standard repertoire (La Boheme, Traviata, Carmen, Turandot and so on) with less-often staged productions (Doctor Atomic, Frau Ohne Schatten, Electra) In the main, they're...More

Beautiful building, we came to see Cendrillion which was wonderful! The seats were comfortable and the cheese platter at the interval was delicious. There is an app to help you pre order drinks and snacks but we didn’t use it, there are plenty bars around...More

The building is by no means our favourite opera house: it is too big, it is not configured like an opera house, and the public areas are cramped. However, the performances generally make up for the inadequacies of the building. The “Siegfried” we attended last...More

Went to go see Jesus Christ Superstar- beautiful picture worthy venue with an inspiring show. Although not as old as many opera houses, it is a stately symbol of Chicago’s architecture.
