Just go! The wooden interior roof is magnificent. This is a beautiful cathedral that should not be missed if you’re in the area.

One of the most impressive Cathedrals I've visited in the US.
Not that big, but amazingly beautiful - fantastic stone exterior, wood interior is mind blowing along with fantastic stained glass in Gothic style.

Holy Name Cathedral, built in 1874, is one of the most prominent cathedrals in Chicago, not only because it is the seat of the Archdiocese, one of the largest Roman Catholic dioceses in the US, but also due to the architectural grandeur of the cathedral.
Visiting Holy Name Cathedral in the hype of the holiday season was breaking away from the chaotic hustle and bustle of the city, and finding myself in the peaceful serenity of the place of worship.
The cathedral, designed in the Gothic Revival style by the architect Patrick Keely et al, is beautiful. Everything from the tall, 210 ft spire, the west front rose window, the massive, bronze front door to the stunning, ornate interior, colorful stained glass windows, the beautiful nave, the chancel, the powerful columns, the aisles, the memorable and unique Resurrection Crucifix, the Stations of the Cross, the 70 ft high, stunning ceiling of the cathedral ... -- everything overpowers you with a sense of timelessness and eternal beauty.
The place of worship. The grand architectural creation.
Holy Name Cathedral is located in the city center. In fact, it is just a short walking distance from the Magnificent Mile.

Visiting and praying inside. Even it did not turn on light, but I can see the big, tall architecture of the cathedral when we visited 3 days in Chicago, IL. It is 1-minute walk from Chicago subway station, and few block to the bus # 146 on N. Michigan Ave.

Even if you’re not a religious person (I’m not), this building can be enjoyed. The ceiling is absolutely stunning! If you only go for that, it’s worth it, but the rest of the cathedral is also beautiful. It’s also impaired in that it’s right on a busy inner-city block, but you’d never know it once you’re inside.

Beautiful service and architecture. The ceiling is quite dramatic. We were here for Easter service 2021; very well organized and safe. It was quite a moving service.

It's a Church . . . go on in as long as it is not after visiting hours. I sincerely doubt if they appreciate cameras flashing though. While you're there, light a candle, say a prayer and leave a couple bucks in the box.
Do they hold mass at Holy Name Cathedral?
