We had tickets for 7/21/2018. We started on the trolley at Navy Pier. The tour guide was very friendly and hilarious. She explained that the buses and trolley ran in a continuous loop and we should have no problem with the "hop on/hop off" around...More

Our Hop On Hop Off experience was good with Chicago Trolley. We didn’t really use it to hop on and off, but instead just ride it around once to the 14 stops.

No, you can take any route you would like while your tickets are good. Although some buses stay on specific routes but they do have spots that you can switch buses to change your route.
