Lake Point Tower at 55 years old is both modern and timeless. At its completion, it was the tallest residential building in the world. The three unique curving 'arms' present a striking and unique view of undulating black glass. At the same time, the building reflects the sky and weather, which it was designed to withstand, and appears to stand guard over Navy Pier.

I would have given five stars especially since the general manager Jim Stecko could've been nicer, however his employees, the doormen Rich and Kenny are very rude and unpleasant to engage with.
I walked into the building said hello to everyone at the desk and stated that I'm here to show a unit and Rich exact words to me were "me put your car in the garage" no hello at all just an evil look on his face barking orders. Maybe that's his natural look, I do not know and I do not care.
What I do know especially with 24 years of management under my belt, Rich would have been terminated along time ago. Jim the general manager was standing right there and did not say a word. Which led me to believe he's either afraid of these thug acting, suppose to be professional doorman or he's an enabler of they're toxic unprofessional behavior. I've dealt with a lot of doormen in this Chicago and they all have been very pleasant and helpful unlike these thugs at Lake Point Tower who are the worst of the worst.
My client and I spoke to several guest about the building and they all stated, they love the building and amenities except for the doormen Rich and Kenny. That speaks volumes. Moving forward I will discourage any and all clients to not buy or rent in this building

Mickey Rooney once lived there. So did Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell. And Hall of Fame baseball players Andre Dawson and Ryne Sandberg. When you drive along Lake Shore Drive or fly into Chicago, it is one of the first points of interest you will see. It is Lake Point Tower. Located at 505 North Lake Shore Drive, it is a high-rise residential building on a promontory of the Lake Michigan waterfront in Chicago, just north of the Chicago River and a block west of Navy Pier, in the Streeterville neighborhood. It is the only skyscraper that sits east of Lake Shore Drive. When the 70-story structure was completed in 1968, at 645 feet tall, it was the tallest apartment building in the world at that time. Its tall curved three wing Y shape was an inspiration for the Burj Khalifa tower in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates. At the top of the building is the upscale restaurant Cite. Its position between Lake Shore Drive and Navy Pier gives residents an unimpeded view in all directions. Historically, Lake Point Tower was one of the first high-rise residential buildings in the world to feature all-electric appliances and utilities. And it pioneered the concept of the "Park in the City," being the first residential complex in a major city to have its own 2 1/2-acre park, including a playground, swimming pool, duck pond and waterfalls. The building also contains an assortment of shops and restaurants. Even today, 53 years after it was built, Lake Point Tower exhibits an architectural beauty that few other buildings can match.

Just before the Navy pier you can easily spot the Lake Point Tower, a marvellous newer building on Chicago's skyline, beautiful curved design and coloured outer panels, worth finding.

I think the look is cool. My research says it was designed by architects who were the students of the famous Mies van der Rohe. It’s 700 feet high and was built over 50 years ago. Whoever designed it and for whatever reason it is the only tall building on the east side of Lake Shore Drive, my eyes just like to look at it!
It has been in many movies and has been the home to many rich and famous people. Plus, every unit gets amazing views of the lake and the Chicago Skyline.
It’s one of a kind and key in the awesome Chicago Skyline.

I liked so much this building design more than the others. It has strange curvy surfaces that look wonderful.

Chicago boasts many landmark buildings, from residences to skyscrapers, but perhaps none of them is more distinctive than Lake Point Tower. It is one of the first structures you notice when flying in or out of Chicago or driving north or south on Lake Shore Drive. Its distinct shape and location make it a remarkable landmark. Its design was futuristic at the time of its construction. Even today, the 1960s tower still looks modern. Located at 505 North Lake Shore Drive, near the Lake Michigan Bridge and Navy Pier and the Chicago River, Lake Point Tower was designed by John Heinrich and George Schipporeit, students of Mies van der Rohe. It was partially derived from a sketch that van der Rohe made in 1921. The building was completed in 1968 and, at the time, was the tallest apartment building in the world, reaching a height of 645 feet. Over the years, my wife and I have visited friends who lived in the building and we were always awed by the spectacular views of Lake Michigan, the shoreline and downtown Chicago. Because of a city law, developers are prohibited from constructing another building near Lake Point Tower. Hence, residents will always have a view unlike any other.

This tower is opposite Navy pier but seems out on a limb to myself. It seems unattached to the rest of the skyscrapers around,

Lake Point Tower is another iconic structure that stands by itself. You can’t miss it on the way to Navy pier or walking along lake Michigan. It is unique to itself.
I am not sure if it is the only structure of its kind in Chicago but it is quite unique. The architecture gives those living inside a terrific view of the city.

This is a very attractive building that we saw on our sunset architectural river tour. It shimmers in the light especially if you have a golden sunset.
Lake Point Tower was inspired by Mies van der Rohe’s 1922 design for a glass skyscraper in Berlin and was completed in 1968. It is the only private building on the Lakefront as there is now a prohibition against building there. It has been featured in several movies, most lately "Divergent."
