About
The Medieval Torture Museum reminds us just how much suffering humanity can inflict in the name of cause and justice when the right tools are placed in the hands of fanatics, madmen and tyrants. The exhibit fills more than 6000 sq. ft. The first location of Medieval Torture Museum is ranked #2 of 158 things to do in St. Augustine. In 2020 and 2021, the Museum was included in the list of Tripadvisor Traveler's Choice. Spend an hour here and you will better know the nature of fear. Are you brave enough?

Wasn’t expecting much when we decided to visit this museum however it was very educational to discover how individuals were dealt with in the past. Ouch! Not for the faint of heart… but would recommend as a must see!

In Chicago for the long weekend and found this museum while searching for things to do during the weekend. The museum is interactive! You can download the app to listen to each story and you can pull or lift items to view while walking around. Worth the visits. Staff were also so kind and knowledgeable!

This is a cool museum. The kids liked it. But I think it is way too expensive. The exhibits are set up cool, but It cost us nearly $150 for 5 of us. We were in the museum for about 45 minutes.
No need to go back.

Thank you for you feedback. I would like to clarify that our admission ticket is priced at $29.99 per person plus tax, and includes access to our extensive 6,000 sqft exhibition, an audioguide, and a Ghost Hunting Experience.
I am sorry that you only spent 45 minutes in the museum. Usually it takes 60 minutes to explore the museum including listening all stories in the Guide and catching all the ghosts.
Considering that you get access to all three experiences, we believe that the ticket price is very reasonable.

Really fun and creepy experience. Pretty wild to think of the awful things humans did. Much larger than it looks. Really good ambiance. Great way to spend an afternoon! Really cool and unique history museum.

Hello, does anything at this museum jump out to scare you or is it all non-living.

All of it is non-living. You just walk around and read/listen to a speaker through recording talk as you look at things.

We were at the location in St. Augustine. Does the Chicago location have the same stuff?

Chicago museum is bigger than the one in St. Augustine. Some scenes are same but exhibits are different and there are more scenes in Chicago.

I’ve seen that the recommended age is 18+; however, my 14 year old is begging to go. We’ve been to Chicago several times and have already done all the “typical” Chicago things to do. She loves horror and gore, it makes me feel queasy haha. Can anyone tell me their thoughts?

I think this exhibit is completely fine for a 14 year old.

I do agree that the recommended age should be 18+, and no children under about 12 should probably ever be admitted. However for a 14 year old with interest in that, I think they would be fine and really appreciate the learning experience.
