    Lovely area
Cool sculpture in Millennium Park. If you have never gotten out of your car to view the bean, I recommend a visit. It was very busy on a gorgeous weekday around noon. There were security stations set up at the various entrances. We felt completely safe. It was midday. We walked to the lake all the way up to Navy Pier and back to Michigan Avenue to board an architectural tour boat. It is a lovely area.

    The "Bean"
Had to stop by and see the "bean". You can touch it and walk under it. Conveniently located near other attractions so a easy item to do. Visited during a warm and sunny day in May. Will say it is hard to get good pictures if you are a solo traveler.

    The Bean
We came first thing in the morning to avoid crowds. We had a great experience. Lots of great photo opportunities. Well worth the stop. As afternoon approaches crowds come in waves and vendors around trying to sell snacks and trinkets.

Symbol for Chicago - Made for Pictures
While a part of Millenium Park, it is great to see it has its own listing as this is such a great attraction for the city, in fact as much as a symbol for Chicago as any skyscraper. We visited multiple time because it is such a cool thing to see and it changes with weather and the people. I think that it is what is most impressive is the way it reflects what is already there in a different way, really cool idea for whoever thought of it. Again it is made for pictures so get plenty of them.

    Minor icon of the city
I remember how divisive this sculpture was when it was revealed and made much fodder on the interwebs. In person, it's a pretty impressive design especially with the fun house reflective properties, not to mention the size. This is now a must-see Chicago experience.

    An icon
The bean was cool to see, it is very much a iconic Chicago sight. You really don’t need more then 10-15 min to get your fun pictures. There are tons of people so trying to get a photo, so trying to get a picture without people is next to impossible.

    Worth Visiting
We went early in the morning so it would be less crowded. Centrally located and easy to find. This is a fun place to take pictures. This location seemed safe and it was very clean. A visit of about 45 minutes was sufficient for us. Definitely worth the time to visit this iconic location.

    See The Bean!
This is a fun place to take some unusual selfies, especially for kids. Don't expect to get any photos that only have your group in them, since it's a popular place and the Cloud Gate structure means you get all sorts of views of everyone who is there. It's out in the open and free for all, so just enjoy it for what it is, a unique piece of art that also involves you, the viewer.

    Classic Chicago!
Currently closed off for pavement construction, but you can still get a decent view of this piece of art. Pictures with clever angles can block out most fencing and vehicles. You really can only be disappointed if you are dead set on getting up close photos with it.

Fun to see but the bean was fenced off for some reason put a real damper on the visit. I assume it’s either a short term project or for the winter weather. Regardless it was cool would like to see it up close next time.

When I first viewed "the Bean", correctly named Cloud Gate, 15 years ago, I was underwhelmed and didn't understand all the fuss. Over time, I have learned to appreciate this public work of art. The reflective nature of the artwork is quite beautiful and the concave chamber inside that multiplies reflections is really cool. The much-photographed piece of art has now become an iconic part of Chicago. It, Millennium Park and adjacent Grant Park with its Buckingham Fountain is well worth seeing during a visit to Chicago. My only negative comment is that it is always mobbed with visitors which detracts from the experience. I suppose it could be fun to be part of the excitement when it is busy, but I would try to visit very early in the morning especially if you want to get some good photos. Even though it is all the good things I describe above, it really doesn't deserve the amount of attention that it ends up getting.

Cloud gate also known as the bean. Is a free outdoor sculpture. It mirrors a reflection of what it faces. Tons of people at all hours of the day so get there mad early. My friends and I went before sunrise to beat the crowds.

When one thinks of over-hyped tourist attractions, that are more trouble than they need to be, the bean, comes to mind immediately. This very famous structure was behind a barricade, so we couldn’t really enjoy it. To make matters worse, parking was a total nightmare for a first time visitor (me).
My advice to anyone reading these reviews: take public transport to the park. If you have to take your own car, download SpotHero for parking coupons. Avoid parking in the underground garages - it’s $30 for anything between0 and 3 hours!

It’s nothing spectacular. I guess it’s one of those things you have to say you saw in Chicago. It won’t leave you in awe or particularly inspired.

Well, "life ' happened to me. it was under construction for remodeling till Spring. well, you can't get everything. Nevertheless, I did catch a glimpse of it from some distance.

The Bean is a work of public art in the heart of Chicago. It was constructed in Millennium Park between 2004 and 2006 as part of a design competition, created by British-Indian artist Anish Kapoor.

The sculpture, which is officially titled Cloud Gate, is one of the world’s largest permanent outdoor art installations. The monumental work was unveiled in 2004 and quickly became one of Chicago’s most iconic sights.

The Bean’s reflective surface was inspired by liquid mercury. This shiny exterior reflects the people moving around the park, the lights of Michigan Avenue, and the surrounding skyline and green space — perfectly encapsulating the Millennium Park experience. The polished surface also invites visitors to touch the surface and observe their reflection, giving it an interactive quality.

One might wonder how it was built - well here you go- The exterior of The Bean is made entirely of stainless steel (weighs 110 Ton). It was created using computer technology to precisely cut 168 massive steel plates, which were then fitted together and welded shut for a completely seamless finish.

Fact: The Bean receives a power wash each day and a deep cleaning twice each year. During the deep clean, workers use nearly 40 gallons of detergent to bring the metallic surface back to its mirrored state.

Sadly, during our visit, the Cloud Gate was closed. Even though the attraction was fenced off, you can still see it from a few places and even get a few picture.
