The Robie House on the University of Chicago campus is considered one of the most important buildings in the history of American architecture. It was created by Frank Lloyd Wright for his client Frederick C. Robie, a forward-thinking businessman. Designed in Wright's Oak Park studio in 1908 and completed in 1910, the building is both a masterpiece of the Prairie style and renowned as a forerunner of modernism in architecture. Tours of the site offer both a first-hand experience of its amazingly contemporary spaces and the current restoration work that is returning the house to its original appearance. Public tours are available Thursday - Monday. The museum is closed Tuesday and Wednesday. Social events and family programs are hosted on weekends throughout the year. Robie House is also available for facility rentals and special events. Visit the Frank Lloyd Wright Trust website to learn more.

The Robie House is amazing - even if you do not pay for a tour. You can still enjoy the House from outside and the Gift Shop is in the garage and it is lovely as well!

I only gave four stars because renovations are still happening and part of the building was closed. When it’s completed though the Robbie House will be a five-star attraction. A beautiful example of Frank Lloyd Wright’s architectural work and genius. Definitely do not miss if...More

I love this house. Tours are expensive. The large building that the University of Chicago built across the street. destroyed the formerly residential view.

Frank Lloyd Wright's Robie house is a marvel to behold. The design is so far ahead of it's time. If you are planning a visit in the near future take note that a good part of the house is closed due to construction.

We took the Frank Lloyd tour in Oak Park and around for three hours. It seemed to be expensive at first glance, but it is not. We were given an excellent tour including the inside of the Unity Church. We enjoyed all the details and...More

We were very disappointed that a large part of the house was not accessible because of the major renovation under way until early 2019 (we were not really warned and still had to pay full price for the tour). We would advise interested visitors to...More
