About
Skydeck Chicago is the breathtaking, thrilling observatory atop the iconic Willis Tower. The highest observation deck in the United States, Skydeck provides views of the city spanning up to four states and 50 miles on a clear day. Skydeck features The Ledge; five glass floor balconies extending 4.3 feet from Willis Tower and made up of three layers of half-inch thick glass laminated into one seamless unit. After an extensive transformation, Skydeck offers a can’t miss, one-stop attraction to discover and see all that the city of Chicago offers from an incomparable vantage point. The revamped attraction features a brand-new, lower-level, museum-like interactive experience that celebrates the unique personality, history, neighborhoods, and sites of Chicago.

    Surreal experience
I cannot relate how cool this experience was! We learned all about the history of the tower before actually arriving at the top. After waiting in a short line, visitors can go out onto the glass enclosed box with views all around the city, The employee then takes photos of your group which you can purchase in the end. Each group of three or more people gets 2 minutes to take pictures on the ledge. It's so unique.
Thank you for visiting Skydeck Chicago! It is terrific to hear that you found our one-stop Chicago experience to be cool and unique. We encourage you to share your photos with us on Instagram and on our Facebook page! We appreciate your review and thank you very much for visiting Skydeck Chicago.

    Very Cool
There is a great museum before you ride the elevator that summarizes a lot of the cool things about Chicago. Willis tower has great dining in it if you need to wait. Great views and the glass box is of course a classic.
Thank you for visiting Skydeck Chicago! It is terrific to hear that you found our one-stop Chicago experience to be cool. It is great that you were courageous enough to step out onto The Ledge and hover 1,353 feet above the streets of Chicago! We appreciate that you took the time to write a review.

Really high tower, nice view over city and beyond
We had short queue, so it was not so crowded as could be. Very nice city view. Glass boxes are also fun. After view we know where we would try to go by walk in city downtown to lake view.
Thank you very much for visiting us and for your rating! We are glad that you enjoyed your experience at Skydeck Chicago and found the panoramic views to be nice.

Great experience despite the limited visibility!
We went up the tower in a rain storm so no visibility. We were offered the chance to amend to a different time of the day or date but that didn’t work for us. Despite this, we had a great time doing the history walking tour even if the views were non existent at the top. Staff were helpful.
Thank you very much for visiting us and for your rating! We are glad that you enjoyed your experience at Skydeck Chicago and appreciate the positive feedback on our team members. It is so great to hear you had a great time enjoying our all new one stop shop museum to Chicago.

    Unusual experience
My husband and I had a fun experience visiting the top of the Willis Tower. The views are almost as good as the people watching! There are fun interactive displays on the way to the elevator with selfie stations with major landmarks, which was a cool bonus. At the top, you get 60 seconds or so to sit in suspended glass cubicles. Not something you get to do everyday! And the restaurants at the bottom are great - try the Rick Bayliss restaurant Tortazo - the mushroom tacos were the perfect finish to an unusual morning.

    Must see sights
I’m not a fan of heights but I put my fear aside and went anyway. I’m glad I did. It was amazing to see the views, especially at night. The tickets are easy to buy at the kiosks, there is a history of Chicago display as you wind your way up to the Skyview area. The lines weren’t too bad, but we didn’t go until after 8pm. There are gift shops obviously to buy nice mementos. There’s also an opportunity to have your picture taken by staff and purchase them before you leave. In addition the building itself has other shops and places to eat, on the 4th floor there is an outside terrace to sit and there was live music the night we went. Over all it was a lot of fun, a great experience for the kids, and something we can check off our bucket list.

Worth the time and expense - FANTASTIC
What a pleasant surprise for a tourist money grab. It really was a lot more than that; I promise. I honestly expected a ride to the top, quick view, and then back down. It was that, but a whole lot more in between. It was more of a museum than anything else. Great history of the building but also of other spots around town, the city's history ... I learned a lot of neat stuff. Plenty of great photo opportunities. This attraction is fantastic for ANY age visitor to the Windy City.
Thank you very much for visiting Skydeck Chicago. We are glad you found the Skydeck to be fantastic and that you enjoyed your experience. We encourage you to share your photos with us on Instagram and on our Facebook page! We appreciate your kind review.

Great for views of the city
My third time to visit with a family member. This time my 12 year old grandson. He enjoyed getting his photo taken on the ledges, with all the views behind him, and leaving his mark on the wall set aside for that purpose. If you don’t like heights, go and avoid the ledges. A nice way to see the city lights after dark. Maps tell you where you are while walking the tower.

Kind of expensive but a unique experience
The day we went seemed kind of busy but the operation was pretty streamlined so it really wasn't rushed or inconvenient. We purchased our tickets there but had to wait an hour for our time so if you want to make use of every moment in Chicago, purchase your tickets in advance. They definitely pack you into the elevator to get to the top so just let your claustrophobic friend or family member take some Ashwagandha or something to help them chill a little because it's definitely worth it.

Sky deck at Willis( Sears) Tower
Be ready for waiting in a few lines, but it’s worth the view and experience. Before ascending the elevator you have an architectural and icon overview of the city. Once on top…. We’ll on the 103rd floor, take in all the angles at your leisure, then ponder what poses you want to do in the glass ledge. Don’t be annoyed with all the photographers at least there’s no pressure to view your pix when you exit. This tower is different from the 360 experience which is the Hancock Tower. I was confused as to which is which or if they were the same attraction

You will only have 90 seconds to take your pictures on the clear balcony. They fit 2 groups/ families per balcony. Make sure you have a plan and your camera ready! That time includes the picture they take of you for you to purchase.

It's a bit expensive even with the city pass but still I think it's worth it, the 360 view from the 100 floor is unbeatable. Taking picture is a hassle since you have to careful of the glare but beside that every thing went as great as expected, out kid loved here.

The Skydeck experience was so good, we enjoyed a lot. You go in a super fast elevator right to the 103rd floor, and you see the entire city of Chicago from the Willis Tower. The Ledge experience was good, but the one thing that I didn't like is that you have a very short time to be in the ledge in order to let the others to be, but is understandable. The photos you can take from the skydeck and the ledge are unmissable.

We went at about 8:00 PM. We got to experience the views during daylight, see the beautiful sunset and the night lights. We would highly recommend going at sunset. Our suggestion if you are there at sunset would be to head fairly quickly to the ledge. There is a line to visit the ledge. 2 people can go at a time, and you get 90 seconds to enjoy the view and take pictures. After visiting the ledge, we were able to go back to the rest of the viewing area to see the view at night and take pictures. Once admitted, on the way to the elevator to go up there are displays and information that we found engaging and informative

I recently visited Skydeck Chicago for the third time in the past decade. While the attraction itself remains impressive, my recent visit left me with mixed feelings.

Positives:
Entrance Experience: The new entrance from the -2 floor was a pleasant surprise. It added freshness to the overall journey.
Engaging Exhibits: The exhibits along the way, from the ticket counter to the elevator, reintroduced me to Chicago’s rich history and neighborhoods.

Areas for Improvement:
The Ledge Staff: Unfortunately, the staff at The Ledge (glass-floor observation box) fell short. Their rudeness and lack of assistance impacted my experience.
Limited Photo Opportunities: The 90-second time limit for photos was frustrating, especially when the modeled pictures displayed on screens set high expectations. Actual patrons don’t get the chance for those iconic clicks due to the time constraint. Rejoining the line for another 90-minute slot isn’t always feasible.

In summary, while Skydeck Chicago offers breathtaking views, addressing staff behavior and enhancing photo opportunities would significantly improve the overall experience.

We purchased tickets at the kiosk for an 8:30 appointment for the sky deck. It was my misunderstanding that there was not a bar up there, so that is on me. However, we waited in lines like Disney World until after 9:30 as they routed us back and forth through the “museum” of sorts they called it. I think perhaps we should have gotten expedited tickets to avoid some of this, but it cost $144 for 3 of us to go to the sky deck. After spending over an hour in line, we reached the top where they said it would be another 45 minutes to actually get out on the sky deck. We had been in line so long and were so over it by then, we just looked out the windows and looked at the view of the city which was pretty but definitely not worth the cost to just see it out the windows with what seemed like a hundred other people vying for a spot to see out the window. It was absolutely horrible. We did not wait. If the view wasn’t somewhat pretty, I would have given this one star. Save your money. Take a architectural boat ride instead and get a great view of the city from the water.

On a short Mother- Daughter (Young Adult) trip to Chicago for Memorial Day week-end – a city we had never visited, included a must see visit to the Willis Sky Deck. It was just before it began to rain heavily that Sunday – however we arrived early and there we no lines, so we were able to leisurely view the exhibits – which were interesting, informative, engaging and interactive ( I loved the simulated subway (the L)) - good for a lot of picture taking and the guides and assistants are generous to take pictures and give information - we were early so visiting moved well but it started to pick up with more people- we finally get to the deck and the views are breathtaking = and then on to the Overview Deck which is very organized - the assistant places you in a Kiosk where s/he takes a professional picture and the leaves you for a timed 90 seconds to take your personal pictures- the entire visit takes about one and one-half hours to two hours – the gift shops are nice and this tower was one of the highlights of the Chicago trip – not to be missed and I highly recommend.

A great experience for my first day in Chicago. Skydeck takes you to the 103rd floor of the Willis Tower and take in the amazing view of the city. There is an area to take pictures over the ledge of the building - you have 90 seconds to take photos and if you want to take more you can simply get back in line.
