The newly renovated rooms at the lodge are nice and clean, but the showers weren’t designed for actually taking a shower. The shower has no door and water sprays all over the floor. When turning on the shower, you get sprayed with cold water because the front half of the shower is closed in with glass and you can’t just reach in and turn on the water. The door to the bathroom is nice, but it’s a sliding barn door that doesn’t lock. So, you have to shower in a bathroom with no lock and a shower with no door. You have no privacy at all. We also didn’t get cleaning service in our room and no towels were brought. After two days of no service, we called the front desk and they say we are supposed to request service. No one told us. Then Anastasia gets an attitude when we ask for clean towels. Now for the restaurant that is supposed to be open. They advertise this place like it’s a great restaurant. Well, we went to eat supper Saturday night on a holiday weekend to find out they closed down the whole restaurant because the waitress called out of work. We love coming to the park, but now we’ll know to stay away from the lodge and restaurant.

Thank you for visiting our park and lodge. I am so sorry for the delayed response and also for the problems that you experienced during your stay. Your stay took place the day we reopened the lodge due to the pandemic, and I'm afraid we experienced some hiccups the first few days that we reopened after being closed for 2 months. This does not excuse the problems that you experienced, however. We hope that you will give us another try in the near future. We have a much better handle on many of these items now at this point. Thank you for your valued feedback, and thank you once again for choosing to come stay with us.

We camped here for one night over Columbus Day Weekend. Due to some unforseen delays, I knew we wouldn't arrive until after dark. I called the front desk and they assured me there was no problem and since I had paid in full, we didn't actualy have to check in with anyone. Most of the campsites were occupied but everyone was nice and respectful of others. The bath house/showers were clean and covenient. I would definetly stay here again.

I'm a Snowbird who has stayed here on my trips north and south for many years. It has always been super-safe and a quaint little place to stay, albeit dated. No longer! This time I stayed in the same strip room area, but in a beautifully renovated room. Just great. And the friendly staff remembered me as an outdoor writer as they have for many years. Highly recommended for families as well. Great trails and activities.

The lodge room I was in was clean and well-appointed, hosekeeping visited every day to refresh. Staff at the front desk were friendly and helpful. The park is peaceful and beautiful, great, well-marked trails, dispersed picnic facilities, lovely exeperience. Good restaurants nearby, particularly Hooky's, which has a to-go low country boil that muct be experienced. Delightful area.

We had the best time, the staff was so friendly and helpful. The campsite was clean and well taken care of. The camp hosts were great. The close proximity to the city/ town of Macray is really nice too. The cable gave us 88 stations. There are some sites with sewer but I wish there were more. I'd pay a little more for sewer and cable hook ups. I'm not real sure about really big rig access it was a bit close. The dump station was a bit strange to me also, it kind of felt like an after thought. The park is huge with 18 hole golf course, lake, lodge, and cabins. There's a putt putt course, fishing, splash pad. Of course with COVID a lot of stuff isn't open right now, but there are hiking trails. I will definitely be returning.

Great campground!
Only super minor issues I had where, I was not aware of the no contact needed check in, if you have a reservation, you can just go directly to your site and all the paper works sitting at the site.
Which is great.
I agree with one of the other posters, there's a few signs saying dump station with an arrow in the park, but not the most important one's where you have to make a right as your about to exit the campground area, or at the dump station.
The host where super friendly, everything was very clean.
Site was very close to being level.

What a wonderful property and amazing golf course. I am loving me some Georgia State Parks right now. So much to do and all the outdoor space in this trying time. Woke up to deer outside every morning. Already looking forward to going back.

We have stayed here many years for the Peaches to Beaches yard sale. We love the upgraded, remodeled lodge rooms. We saw several deer as we were walking to our room and have seen them while we were eating. Peaceful place to stay. We love the cottages on the water and cannot wait for them to be rebuilt.

Just left after spending 4 days and 3 nights with a softball team and it was the best experience. Laid back atmosphere, super clean rooms, comfy beds, and a beautiful state park to enjoy. Pool, splash pad, playgrounds, free bikes on a first come basis, fishing lake and Mr. Russ who was more than accommodating and friendly! Can’t beat it!

I went to the state park to relax and unwind. I took my camper and had a great time. For camping it is ideal with all of the amentities you would like. I am not a golfer but they have an excellent golf course here and I heard people raving about how challenging it was.

I posted the question below and have received 3 different prices on the picnic areas. Christopher N, below does not mention the other covered shelters that are large enough for a large group. I, in fact, did not specify a air conditioned enclosure. I only asked for a covered picnic tables for 40/50 people. You guys should get together on your prices.

Hello Betty. Did you try calling the property's sales manager at the number that I listed in my previous communication several weeks ago? The pricing that I sent you was the pricing that she communicated to me at the time of your request. It is possible that these rates could change slightly based on the day of the week of your event or the seasonality and timing of your inquiry. Our rates are fluid and do change over time. We always provide pricing and quotations based on the most recent information available. We would be happy to assist you further. Please feel free to call the property sales manager at 229-868-7474, ext. 6009, or if you can reach me at 770-864-1167. Thank you again for your interest in our park, and I apologize for any confusion in regards to the pricing of our picnic shelters.

We are looking for a place for a family dinner. Does the lodge still offer the buffet on Saturday, and the second option is a picnic area with a shelter.
How much is the rent of the picnic area? We usually have around 50 people. Thanks, Betty
Written 20 June 2018
Hello, and thank you for your interest in our park! We do not typically run a dinner buffet on Saturdays, but we have at times done one for a large group. We have two group shelters on the property. One seats up to 50 people and rents for $150, and the other will seat up to 125 people and rents for $275. Our sales manager, Cindy, would be happy to discuss the specifics of your group and any questions that you may have. She can be reached directly at 229-868-7474 ext. 6002, or you can call toll-free at 877-591-5572. Thank you again for reaching out to us!
