Such an unexpected delight it was to find this beach! I've been to many beaches, but none like this one. A great visual sight awaits you when you visit, as the photos show. Go at the "golden hour" to get some great photos, or just hang out for the day and have a picnic.

Several people at the beach Christmas Eve 2021. Some people were net fishing. So much driftwood that the walk was shortened because we couldn't get past it. Nature's way!

Prettiest beach on the island. Great for walking but not for swimming. A must see for those who love a scenic walk on the beach.

I moved to St Louis almost two years ago and my fiancé has never been to Georgia. I wanted to take her to my favorite place back home so I brought her to Driftwood Beach! She loved it just as much as I do! Always so beautiful and very relaxing here!

Driftwood beach is absolutely stunning, especially early in the morning as the sun is rising. You really cannot beat the view here, and if you're into photography at all you will not be disappointed by the scenery here. The beach, the trees, the dunes, etc. are all very unique to this area and different from every other beach on the island, which was pretty fascinating to me. The island is only about 18 miles long, so I found myself wondering just why and how this stretch is so different. Even the shells that wash ashore were different; more lava rock than not. I definitely recommend giving this a high priority on your sightseeing list for Jekyll.

We were spending a few days at Sea Island and took a trip to Jekyll Island to take in the sights. I left my good camera at the hotel even though I knew we'd be walking on some beaches. After all, a beach is a beach, right?
Driftwood beach is truly unique. Massive trees half buried in the sand at all kinds of angles. A photographer's paradise. It goes on for about 1/2 mile.
Parking is free and it is a short walk on a trail to the beach (maybe 50 meters). It is located just a few miles north of the traffic circle is driftwood beach.

While on Jekyll Island don't miss this! Go at low tide so you can walk around these dead trees up and down on the beach to really get a feel for this strange location. Most unusual place. It is the remains of an old maritime forest.
