A very attractive city park, free to the public. About 40 acres with some short trails, small lakes and a variety of plants and trees. A nice, open air amphitheater can be rented for special occasions. Many of their usual events have been cancelled due to the Covid virus but they still have some yoga classes on site. Plan about an hour for a quiet walk through the grounds.

Unlike other botanical gardens, Mead Garden is more akin to a large park- most of the area is natural and untouched. The few sections with planted flowers and other curated foliage are small, and not all are well-manicured. Nonetheless the gardens urge leisurely exploration. There are some interesting hillside paths worth walking and the wetlands in the back feature a creek where I watched two swimming turtles play with one another. If you're in the area for Orlando's famous theme parks, the 30-minute drive from the Lake Buena Vista area offers a quiet, relaxing alternative for an hour or two. Even better- there is no charge for admission, so this may be the best value in Central Florida. Make sure to wear footwear you don't mind getting dirty- since rain is frequent most times of the year, it's safe to assume the walking paths will always be a little muddy.

Not well kept. When we were there yesterday trails pretty muddy. People ride bikes and take dogs on boardwalks even though signs say not to. We did see some pretty flowers and butterfly’s. Since it is free I guess you get what you pay for.

After we parked the car and we started walking, we weren’t sure which way to go. We had a map from the internet, but trails were not marked. We started off in one direction, but it led to a street, so we back tracked and found a trail by the water and on the boardwalk. It was peaceful and nice to be in nature, during the pandemic. We saw fish, birds, squirrels and a rabbit. So, it was a nice time and would have been better with trail markers!
