Do you see yourself looking over the vast Serengeti plains, searching the horizon for a glimpse of a pride of Lions, or a Leopard lounging in the trees? Do you imagine yourself in India, riding an elephant through the high grass with your eyes peeled for the elusive Tiger? Have you ever thought how great it would be to hike through the rainforest, listening to the tropical birds, ever on the lookout for a Leopard or an Ocelot high in the canopy? Have you ever been to the zoo and wanted to be closer to the exotic cats; so close you could almost touch them? You don't have to spend tens of thousands of dollars to make these dreams come true. The world's largest accredited big cat rescue facility is right here in Tampa, Florida at Big Cat Rescue.

If you are in the area this is an amazing place. They rescue Big Cats from all over. They have a show I would recommend you see if you go. Definitely a worthy cause.

Not far from Tampa International Airport and Busch Gardens-- this informative, entertaining thing to do is worth a special trip. Oddly enough, it started with wanting a Big Cat for its "status" value before the Rescuers realized that Big Cats are not pets. The tours...More

I enjoyed the guided tour tremendously. You could tell our tour guide had great love for and knowledge of the cats we saw. He shared personal stories of the cats and their caretakers, the history of big cat rescue and their hopes for the future.

We really enjoyed our visit to the Big Cat Rescue, although the stories of the cats are often sad, they are well looked after here, and are in lovely surroundings, with the recent addition of a large play area where all cats can spend time...More

I visited Big Cat Rescue and it was such a great experience. This rescue takes in abused, mistreated, malnourished and illegally imported animals but primarily cats. They believe in a non-touch approach so none of the staff touch the tigers. Since this would not be...More
