This was just right for an afternoon of water, sun, history, and exploration! My husband, kids 8 and 10, and I very much enjoyed this trip. We picked up takeout from a nearby restaurant and had lunch while we sailed out to Egmont Key. The Captain and crew were all super friendly, answering any questions that anyone had. The boat itself is very clean and well maintained, and the music that’s played on the boat is pleasant and not too loud. They offer snorkeling gear (the type that’s a combination of mask and snorkel without a mouthpiece) and shell bags for use free of charge.
We enjoyed exploring around the light house, the walk through the palm forest, and around the remains of Fort Dade. After about an hour, the kids wanted to just swim so we hung out near the boat (bathrooms and drinks).
On the way back to the marina the captain offered to let the kids steer the boat, which they really enjoyed!
When you book through the company’s website, it will prompt you to add a tip if you’d like. I declined at the time since we hadn’t experienced it yet, but there is a tip jar on the boat if you’d like to tip at the end of the trip, which we did.
We highly recommend this excursion! Would do it again.
