About
Explore 1,000 years of Florida history on the Jungle Prada Tour. This is a guided walking tour of a historic landmark in St. Petersburg, Florida. The Jungle Prada Site was part of an American Indian village from 1,000 CE until 1,600 CE. You'll learn about the lives of the Tocobaga people at one of the best-preserved shell mounds in Florida. The Jungle Prada Site is generally recognized as the landing place of the 1528 Narváez Expedition. The survivors, led by Alvar Nunez Cabeza de Vaca, walked from Florida all the way to the Pacific Ocean over eight years (1528 - 1536)! You'll encounter free-roaming peacocks that have lived at the Jungle Prada Site for decades. Come and discover a side of St. Pete that you never knew existed! Safety Statement: Due to the historic nature of the property some surfaces are uneven. Please watch your step and use caution on the paths. Other potential risks include all those that naturally arise from walking through heavily wooded or natural areas.

Wonderful tour guide! Enthusiast and informative, about the native Indians and the arrival of the Spanish. Gorgeous peacocks on the property.

Very interesting tour of an area that was part of a Tocobaga Village 1,000 years ago. Tour guide David Anderson, whose family owns the property, tells the story of the indigenous inhabitants, the Spanish looking for gold and the early white settlers. It’s a beautiful garden property on Boca Ciera Bay with lots of peacocks. We happened to go during mating season and the peacocks were in full glory.

Excellent history tour. David is so full of local history and you can tell he loves talking about it! During the tour he points out plants and trees (and has stories about them), takes you to the water where you may see dolphins (we did), and makes sure he points out where to watch your step. He is very polished on his names and dates and history and is fascinating to listen to. If you like history, I highly recommend!

Fantastic experience. History, nature tour, view of the water, family owned businesses. Loved it! Expert tour guide. We liked the video in the garden center too. We also liked walking over to the ice cream place afterward.

5 STAR PLUS!! Fantastic historical tour that exceeded our expectations. Our guide, David, was so enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and engaging! My husband and I live in St. Petersburg and heard what an excellent tour the Jungle Prada History Site is so we decided to take our n-laws this past weekend.

David is so knowledgeable and it is obvious he and his family care and respect the scared land. However, his knowledge of "Old Florida" in the Jungle Prada area was fascinating. The peacocks/peahens provided scenic background to the historical artifacts.

The hour and half tour flew by! David made sure we were comfortable on the walking tour; chairs and benches were perfectly placed at intervals. We enjoyed looking at the museum and purchasing several books. There is no doubt that this tour is now a must for any family/friends visiting. Thank you David!!

This was a fascinating tour if you are into archeology, history, wildlife & plants. The tour was to be 90 minutes. However the guide was so knowledgeable & there was so much information it went over. I could have stayed longer. Since the guide is an ancestor of the Family that owns these grounds & was raised there he could provide personal interesting information. The terrain is rough so if you have difficulty navigating uneven surfaces and some climbing before warned. This being said, the guide was very accommodating & would still provide time to give his information in a location less harsh. Highly recommend this tour.
