Blast from the past
Mar 2021 • Couples
For someone who was born and raised in Miami and moved away 24 years ago, this was an opportunity to play tourist and re-discover memories and memorabilia this museum offers. What I appreciate about HistoryMiami were the many photographs and information offered about the native history, population growth, tourism industry, neighborhoods, icons, politics, and immigrants who came from Haiti and Cuba. Information about each exhibit is written in English and Spanish, and is summarized in a simple way.
At the time of this review, tickets were free and you can order them online by selecting a date and a two-hour time slot. If my memory is correct, they only allow 25 people in the building within a two hour period. Validated parking is offered for a flat rate of $5. Park in the garage next door and they will validate your ticket.
If you’re someone looking to re-discover memories of the past like me, or you’re visiting the area for the first time and you’re looking to discover what’s behind the glass buildings and beaches, be sure to put this on your list!

Good place to learn about Miami’s history and culture
Dec 2020 • Solo
First of all it’s important to mention that admission is free on the second Saturday of each month. Two wings, one mostly history and the other cultural. Both are worth your time. No gift shop so additional information will have to come from books on Amazon. Also, the balance between pre and post-1950 tilts quite a bit to older times. Given Miami’s recent explosive growth, I would have preferred more post-WWII focus. Definitely worth a visit.

Good museum on the history of Miami
Jan 2020
Good museum on the history of Miami. Especially liked the history of the last 200 or so years, but the museums timeline goes back much farther. A must go to.

Marvelous museum - a highlight of our trip
Jan 2020 • Couples
HistoryMiami made the past come alive and helped make the present understandable. The museum was right-sized with enough, but not too much, information on important facets of the past. We especially enjoyed the splendid tour given by the museum educator, Jeremy Gates.

Great History of the NFL Before Super Bowl
Dec 2019 • Family
We began the tour understanding the cultural history of Miami and progressed through the growth and diversity. It was great to see the struggles of the people to live in barren land by comparison to today’s living standards. So many artifacts were collected from ship wreaks to training war fighters to fly at a local high school during WWII.
In the other buildings across the plaza was the NFL exhibit. The displays were so captivating by describing the early history of the league back in 1910. It also shows the legends of the game both pre-NFL and current day. What a breath of fresh air. Now I can’t wait to get to the Hall of Fame in Canton, OH.

Wonderful museum downtown Miami
Jun 2019
Great exhibits that are always changing. Call ahead to ask about local tours of the area. Next door to the Public library and Metro mover. Parking is easy as there is a garage attached to the building. Great place to start to explore downtown.
