Thats a million dollar question..
1. Depends on the trip you are on..
2. Depends on the weather
The weather in April here in Key West can be windy. Mostly out of the East which makes for great sail fishing weather on the reef but can be quite "sporty" or rough, so if you are headed to the deep sea I would plan for rougher and hope for calmer..
In the backcountry the seas are always calm as we are hiding behind islands and in the shallows. Remember. A wave can only build to be 1/3 of the depth of water. So, in three feet of water with a high wind - 1 ft seas.. No dramamine needed in the backcountry.
Hope that helps..
