Secret gem of mine!
Sep 2021 • Couples
This is our 5th year at the boardwalk! It is getting better but it could have a few more vegan options. Love the atmosphere and it is just the right size! Nice to see the same favorites as well as new ones. Nobody I talk to in Ohio seems to of ever heard of it! So glad my husband found this spot!

Sounds and Sights of Rehoboth
May 2021
I grew up in the area and walked these boards countless times as a kid/teenager. I can't tell you how many nights we spent just hanging out and having fun! Now we continue to visit with our own kids.

Some things have come and gone, but it remains almost the same as ages ago. The MAJOR change that happened this year was that Dolle's is NO LONGER ON the boardwalk. It can be found on the Avenue, just a few storefronts in from the actual boardwalk. The iconic sign, however, has still remained in place. Along these boards you will find timeless treasures such as Funland Amusements, Beach Arcade, Grotto Pizza, Kohr Bros Ice Cream, Gus & Gus, Starkey's and Thrasher's Fries. There are a few notable restaurants: Victoria's and the Greene Turtle. Throw in a jewelry store, a 5&10, the kite shop, a gym & a bike shop...and that about sums it up. There are 3 oceanfront hotels on the boards: The Henlopen Hotel, the Boardwalk Plaza and the Atlantic Sands (outdoor pool). Restrooms can be found on Delaware at the Information Stand beside Funland and on Baltimore at the Lifeguard station next to Grotto's. There is also one centrally located behind the Band Stand on Rehoboth Avenue.

Overall, this is a short boardwalk at just 1 mile in length. However, you will find lots of fun and good eats squeezed in. Lots of great views of the Atlantic ocean, sunrise/sunsets, porpoises and boats can be caught from these boards. I would recommend whether it be for a stroll, sightseeing or even exercising.

Note: Smoking is prohibited on the boardwalk. Pets are also prohibited during peak season. Bikes are also prohibited during peak hours during the beach season. Please read the rules posted at the edge of the boardwalk for your enjoyment and others.

Fun Boardwalk
Sep 2021
The Boardwalk is always busy at this time of the year and a little Honkey Tonk but it is fun. There are lots of people walking around having a good time eating and enjoying the rides.

The only problem was that some businesses closed early for the season and the Boardwalk looked a little empty business wise.

Otherwise it is a lot of fun to walk around.

Lots to see
Aug 2021
Spent a Saturday afternoon mostly on the boardwalk. Lots of shops and restaurants to choose from. It was overcast so it wasn't too crowded. Enjoyed our time and the variety of shops. Sad to see the Dolles is having to move due to high rents. Public restrooms were available and overall was clean. I could see where parking could be an issue if it was busy. Worth the trip!

People-Watching Perfection
Apr 2021
The Boardwalk is the perfect location to people-watch while you walk along the ocean. Not to mention, a tasty snack of candy, popcorn or ice cream is always near at home. Fun place for families.

Beware of incorrect parking tickets
Aug 2021
Our car was ticketed even though we paid for parking. Had to wait in line to fight it with many others who were also ticketed incorrectly. Check your ticket closely.

Severely Busy and Overcrowded
Jul 2021 • Family
Our family has been coming here for 25+ years and this year was the worst for several reasons. There are HOARDS of people packing onto the boardwalk, into the stores, and onto the beach! Finding parking is nearly impossible and people are driving erratically and foolishly downtown. Adults and children alike walk right out in front of moving vehicles wherever they so choose…and not in crosswalks. Then they yell at drivers who have to slam brakes to avoid hitting them! People are often rude and obnoxious. Our standard places to eat along the boardwalk, especially Grottos, have some seriously unfriendly, grouchy people working there. Very disappointing! Multiple local store owners shared with us that there is too much constant traffic, and one said that every day is like the Fourth of July…which is WAY TOO BUSY!! Another one shared with us that “Day-Trippers” are pouring into the only parking spots, staying there for 12 hours in order to sit on the beach all day and evening without supporting the local businesses, and that’s why store shoppers can’t find parking.
This is not the Rehoboth I have known and loved all of my life. The “quaint” and quiet town,
( compared to loud party-places like Ocean City, Maryland), is disappearing, and being taken over by a completely different vibe.
Final thoughts…if you plan to sit on the beach anywhere along the mile long boardwalk, you will literally be sitting with wall to wall people. There is no spacious sandy real estate to be found. We’re talking blankets against blankets, and umbrellas practically touching! During times of covid and variants, this is even more concerning. No thank you!

Boardwalk that's not miles long!
Jul 2021
Boardwalk had typical offerings, but very manageable size (unlike boardwalks that are miles long). Live music offered at the band shell. Plenty of options to eat and drink.

Post Covid Travels
Jul 2021 • Friends
We were surprised to see all the litter on the beach & boardwalk. The main strip was dirty, as well. One establishment said that they were short employees hence the conditions...yikes. Several areas (on the main strip) reeked of a trash smell. — A police presence increased since Pre-Covid times, but seemed to be necessary as we witnessed verbal confrontations, profanity and public drunkenness all within 1 hour on the boardwalk. Very disappointed. Not how we remembered RB.
