$218 for a skiing day pass vs $48 to ride the gondola for both Vail and Lionshead. Was an easy choice.

Last year on our visit the gondola wasn't running, but this year we were lucky and rode it to the top. Then we spent the next several hours hiking down the mountain. There are several ways to go. The Cabin Trail is in the woods, and only for hikers, but steep in places and more difficult on the knees going down. We finally opted for the road where we enjoyed beautiful views of Vail and the surrounding mountains. Lots of bikes on the road, but not a problem. It meanders in a series of wide switchbacks and we had a relaxing hike down the mountain on a perfect day, warm and sunny, not a cloud in the sky.

Beautiful ride can easily bring a walker. We bought two senior tickets on Sept 18th. They cost $37pp I asked if it would be possible to bring walker. No problem and they said just ask the person to shut it down so you don't have a problem. They required masks and staff were very helpful. The paths are easily accessible and the views are spectacular. Food was not an issue as we had other plans. They did have mountain coaster that people were enjoying. It was nice to watch, but, not something I would try. You could bring your mountain bike and bike down if you were so inclined!! think going on Friday would be better than weekend for fall. Will suggest clients add this to their list of activities in Vail

After visiting the farmers market Sunday afternoon, we decided to take the gondola ride up the mountain. It was a reasonably quick ride, with amazing panoramic views of the mountains and surrounding area. Once we got to the top, we hopped off to do a little hiking and take some prime photos. We spoke with a guide about the ski slopes - they looked like they were intended for hardcore skiers. If in the area, do check this out. Budget extra time for the hiking - wear good shoes and bring water and hiking sticks.

The only activity at the top this season was the mountain coaster, and you can take your bike up to ride down. There is food available for purchase.
