My relative and I wandered these ruins entirely by ourselves for the hour we were there, without interruption by any other tourists. Rare to enjoy such an experience, and well worth the side trip to see the ruins.

The ruins are well kept and interesting to wander around. The children enjoyed running around the buildings and trying to imagine what the site may have looked like at the height of its use. Some areas were cordoned off when we visited due to archeological...More

An important visit that is a must for anyone visiting Pietrabbondante! Forget the fact that it only costs 2 euro, seeing one of the most important pre-roman archaeological finds is an awe inspiring feeling. The fact that the Sanniti was the ONLY group of people...More

One of the things that makes this site special is the location - a spectacular view looking down into the valley below. The highlight - as the name suggests - is the amphitheater. The Samnites had a long history of contacts with both Greeks and...More

If your near Isernia make sure you take the drive to Pietrabbondante. The archeological site here is filled with amazing history. Make sure you have a guide to get the full story.
