Had a blast on the trails getting to crystal mills. Devils punch bowl is pretty tough. The trail is narrow and rocky. The town of Crystal is pretty cool. We also did the entire loop Lead King as well then back into Crested Butte.

We drove up Gothic Rd until we were stopped by the road closure. We drove past the first closing signs and parked with the shuttles and other cars in the last "parking area" before the washout. This last area requires a 4x4 as it's steep...More

[NOTE: Check with CBMBA before heading off to ride 401 - the magnificent snow has delayed opening things up. Don't ruin a wondrous thing!] Schofield has so much going on that it can't be covered all in one day. Emerald Lake is gorgeous. Riding any...More

More of an FYI than a review: pass was still closed on 7/4 but up to that closure (past gothic campground) everything looked great.

I read a lot of reviews before we decided to try to drive from Mt. Crested Butte to the top of Schofield Pass in a Subaru Forester in July 2017. We didn't make it that far, since the road was closed and impassable around Rustler's...More
