This place not only renews your faith in the quality of grapes used in their world-class wine, but renews your faith in the people and the work that go into producing that wine. Tom and his wife treated us like family, showed us around the vineyard, and set and visited with us as we talked about their story.

Incredibly well-kept secret that everyone should experience while in Napa.

Best kept secrets in the valley

If you want an education on the growing process, this was second to none. Tom and Lauren took the time to talk us through the growing process, how they harvest and the overall timeline of the wine production. We really wanted to understand the process and they were phenomenal! Then we went into their dining room and tasted a five year vertical with tasting notes on each year. It was fun to hear how each years climate impacted the wine. And the wine was top notch! Tom and Lauren clearly know their product and are very great to spend some time with. We will be back next time we are in Napa (to buy some more of their Barn Burner Cab)!

You need to see places like this

Some of these winemakers are not on many peoples radar, but they should be. Not just for the wine, which is excellent, but for the art of the wine. I think we have to support these kind of winemakers. Are they cheap, inexpensive....nope....but they produce a small amount of excellent wine that you won't find at you your grocer or big wine store. They need this price to sustain their small production, and you not be disappointed pulling out one of these big reds for a nice dinner in a couple years, and tell their boutique story.n

Best Winery You Have Never Heard of..Until Now
Jul 2014 • Couples
We had a full day in Napa. At each stop we were asked where else we were going. Each place we said "Tom Scott Vineyard." To this we received quizzical looks and shrugs. If they had heard and been to Tom Scott - they would be slightly smirking knowing what we now know - Tom Scott Vineyard makes the best bordeaux style wine in Napa.

Hidden at the border of Yountville and Stag's Leap districts, Tom Scott does not have a formal tasting room. This is just as the proprietors want it. Each year Tom Scott and his wife plant a set ratio of Cabernet, Cab Franc, Merlot and Petite Verdot. They let nature decide the ratio for their wine at the end of the year. On a scale of 1 to 10 - this goes all the way to Wow.

We were given a personal tour of the fields and were able to see the personal touches the Scott give their wines. Then my wife and I had a 5 year vertical. It was incredible how each year greatly differed year to year. They were all amazing.

If you are in Napa and you are fortunate enough to get a tasting with the Scotts - you must try their truly fantastic wines. They play across the palate and compose their own symphony. This was a one of a kind experience and one we will relish for a long time.
