The area
Address
Neighbourhood: Santa Monica
Santa Monica is a coastal town that maintains a balance as a tourist destination and as an area with a thriving local culture. On the beach, bikers, roller-bladers, runners and walkers move along the famed bike path enjoying the beautiful Los Angeles weather. The solar-powered Ferris wheel at the Santa Monica pier spins high above the water, while park revelers scream with delight riding the roller coaster. Inland from the beach, Third Street Promenade bustles with shoppers and street performers, where every block seems to have a musical or acrobatic act drawing crowds giving Santa Monica both the feeling of a laid-back beach town and a major commercial hub.

Nice experience for a first time, however it was crowded and a little dirty. Too many street vendors and it was also disorganized.

Fun Family Adventure
Jun 2021
We spent Father’s Day morning on the pier. My little brother loved the arcade: air hockey, Mario, Ski Ball, etc. There are plenty of rides to choose from, photo booths, flat penny machines, food stands, and carnival games. There is also a restaurant on the water. Get there early to avoid the crowd. Very family oriented. We enjoyed it!

Fun place to visit
Jul 2021 • Couples
Went there on a Sunday afternoon. It was very busy and beware there was no social distancing taking place. There was a lot of shops l, street vendors and the rides.
The beach was clean and busy as well as the walking path.

Pretty Cool.

My wife and two children wanted to visit Beach while visiting and while here we wanted to check out the pier and let them go on some rides. I would highly suggest in my opinion if your going to be here all day then grab the all day wrist bands for the rides.

There were some clean restrooms inside the park area, but the beach area was kind of a mess if you needed to go.

Definitely the view of the beach and the Ocean was worth going, but I will state this openly, watch your step in the sand as I did observe a homeless or residentially challenged individual shooting up openly in public and attempted to toss the needle he used in the sand until I said trash can.

Not sure how safe it is in the sand which is why I stated this.

Santa Monica Pier

I miss the Santa Monica Pier. It is such a relaxing place once you silence the outside noise.

True story. I dated this one guy, and he used to argue with me all the time about the littlest things. I would just grab my car keys and leave. I would drive down the 405 freeway contemplating life as it may be. I would almost always end up at the Santa Monica Pier. I would just sit for hours looking out at the ocean. I would then drive back home. As soon as I walk in, dude is still auguring. I would say ' dude, who are you arguing with? I haven't been here'. (Lol) that would make him more upset. I used to tell him 'you know what? ''Even in my dreams, you're stressing me out!, So when I get up in the morning I feel the need to bounce", and spend more of your money! Stop stressing me out!. Shopping is therapeutic!" :-)

trashy and underwhelming
Jul 2021
We walked the pier to the end and back and never went back. All we found was dirty vendors selling useless items and questionable food items. The rides were basic carnival rides. And the restaurants were dirty tourist traps that you would never want to eat at.

Once in a lifetime
Jul 2021
Loved the pier loved seeing the ocean crowded the weekend of the 4th of July. Still did not really have to wait for rides. Is a lot of walking and walking in the sand is indeed a workout on its own. Was definitely worth the effort.

Great views of ocean and sunset
Jun 2021
I would imagine this pier is always crowded, but it is well worth taking a walk and taking it all in. Got to see an amazing sunset and got some treats from the many vendors. Our favorite was the mango flower on a stick with tajin and lime.
