Ideal Napa Experience
Oct 2019 • Couples
We arrived to a glass of Sauvignon Blanc provided by our host, Ian. We enjoyed talking on the shaded porch, overlooking the vineyard as the mid-morning sun continued to rise. Then, we made our way into the cave and wound through to the end, the tasting area. It exists because some explosives were left over after the initial tunnels were complete. It is even more impressive in person than in the photos. The remainder of the wines tasted were red, and they were all spectacular. Then, we also tasted a few wines from the barrel. It was a wonderful experience that we highly recommend.

One of our favorites
Jun 2019
We were greeted by Marie with a smile and a glass of Sauvignon blanc. We loved hearing the story behind Hourglass winery while sipping our wine during the tour. The best part was sitting in the comfortably cool tasting cave. Not only was the cave room a unique, intimate atmosphere, but the wines are fabulous and it was great speaking with Marie. Just an overall fantastic experience. Would highly recommend making an appointment here.

Favorite Tasting in Napa Valley
Dec 2018 • Couples
My husband and I heard about Hourglass through a recommendation from a friend. We didn't see a lot of info about the winery online so we weren't sure if we would do it - but it was our favorite tasting by far and one of our favorite memories from our trip. We were welcomed by Ian and his dog Eros at the cottage house at the front of the winery. We then walked by the vineyards into the cave where they host the tasting, where Ian educated us about their wines and also got to do an extra barrel tasting. While the wine was fantastic, and so was the knowledge we gained, the best part (in our opinion) was the unique, intimate atmosphere and experience. It was great speaking with Ian. We're telling all of our friends to include Hourglass on their future trips to Napa! (It's great for a romantic Napa trip, or with a small group of friends. Don't miss it.)

AMAZING
Oct 2018 • Couples
This is our second visit to Hourglass as we love the wine and especially love the winery and tour. Ian is very accommodating and does an excellent job in describing the history ,property and wine making. The wines are an 11 out of 10. The Cabs are Napa's finest with a big bold and aromatic bouquet that will satisfy the most demanding Cab lovers. We are very happy to be wine club members as we thoroughly enjoy every release......... Cant wait to return.......

If you can get in, GO!
Sep 2018
Do not be afraid of the 100$ tasting fee because it is sooooo worth it! They also waive the fee if you buy wine (which there is no way you won’t as all of their wine is amazing). Liam and Eros were the best hosts! The cave in which you taste is one of the most beautiful settings i have ever experienced.. Liam treated us to a barrel tasting after which was also great and he provided us with tons of knowledge!

Hidden gem!
Jun 2018 • Business
Off the beaten path, naturally cooled wine cellars tunneled inside the mountain along the Silverado trail. Great smooth cabernet choices to top it off!

Beautiful and Contemporary
Aug 2015
Hourglass wines are excellent, and the property fits the wine. This is a beautiful winery of contemporary style, built back into the hill side. We had our tasting in a side room off the cave, before a large granite table. Although our hostess spoke a bit too fast for us, the wines did all of the talking. This is a great winery and a great wine.

Take the time for this Hourglass!
Jul 2015
This review is for their cave tour that is in Calistoga.

If you can get in, this is worth a visit. Hourglass has a beautiful cave and the experience is highlighted by a tasting of 3-4 wines. Their Blueline Vineyard is amazing, and there Merlots will knock your socks off.
