Pedestrian Space
Mar 2020
This is the downtown pedestrian area, not all that pretty or that interesting, just a bunch of office buildings and some stores and restaurants. But it is nice to be away from the traffic.

Best in summer
Sep 2019
A great place to go on a summer evening. Lots of restaurants and small stores as well as Macy's. My favorite places are the Crest Theatre which is the oldest in town and the IMAX just down the street. This place used to not allow traffic but it is back again but not that heavy as no parking allowed. The biggest drawback is too many homeless people wandering around.

K Street - Still a pig sty!
May 2019 • Couples
Was there this morning. Loving the urban sheik; garbage everywhere, the occasional homeless sleeping on the ground surrounded by more garbage. After all the money invested in "improving" K Street, I'm sure the politicians are very proud of their work. If you're visiting Sacramento, be sure to check out this very trendy display of filth. Thank you Darrell Steinberg. Can't imagine why more businesses don't want to locate there.

OK if you're staying nearby

I was here on the weekend and Monday. Pretty dead in the evenings except for a few eateries. During the day special events like the beer fest are better. It was raining and the shelter was sparse. Homeless are still panhandling in force; but none were aggressive this time.

The food, as always, was Great. I was there with just over a dozen people. We waited just over an hour on a Saturday night and other than a slight mixup in the orders everything was great.

New think call GOLDEN 1 CENTER or Centre
Sep 2016 • Friends
Between September 14, 2016 to September 23, 2016, staying at that great hotel on J Street! I have reviewed it before, so far all comments having VOTES! Anyone, one Thursday, (I using Animal Order names), MARLIN FISH takes hotel guest TIGER from beautiful OAKLAND to a Japanese place! After they walk to this new upcoming Golden 1 Center or Centre! Not yet as yet open but they heard of some sculpture!

Be careful walking to this new stadium, arena, building! Lots pit holes! Tiger say that because the streets around it not level, if not careful, if not cautious, can easily step not knowing one stepping down, can very serious to get injured! As far, Marlin Fish and Tiger see what supposed be done by October 1, 2016! The roof, the entrances! No way to yet get in or get close! Supposed parking area still is fenced in, still is blocked in! Okay so is or was walking distance of hotel, that will be convenient for guests wanting attend any events here! As say, as now every still fenced in, every still blocked in, how they will get to entrance, in the child like opinion of Tiger, is very good question!

Tiger thanks the Marlin Fish for walking tour of Sacramento! We also went into place call El Rey! I not Spanish but knowing means The King, Reina is Queen! Just as my Chinese friends do, learn English from BIG BIRD, I learned my Spanish on Sesame Street, Dora The Explorer, Go Diego Go! We walk into El Rey, they gave him menu, they very friendly! We also walked into other places, all very friendly! Tiger never knew so many places this area of Sacramento (SACRA)!

I understand Sacramento N B A be playing here! This to be their home stadium, their home arena? I do wish Sacramento N B A good luck in 2016/2017 season! Good luck except when they playing my Golden State Warriors, then yes I be cheering my own home team!

2016 still awful embarrassment to Sacramento except for K Street east of 10th - 14th streets
Aug 2016
Sacramento is a wonderful city starting at about 10th Street eastward. Fabulous midtown but K Street remains pathetic. With the Kings arena, things will improve in 2017, but the Kings are not the end all. Old Leadership cares more about Kings than about infrastructure investment. The sewers need major investment and public transportation is in financial trouble. Until basic infrastructure needs are addressed, the city won't and can't become the vibrant downtown scene it hopes to become.

Terrible is an unfair assessment since you can't access K-Street Mall (saved for Macy's only) as a result of the construction of the New Sacramento Arena. Ribbon cutting is slated for October 2016 and this landmark will become The Golden 1 Arena and will encompass all of the former K-Street Mall

currently the parking situation is a mess, entering around Macy's and the new arena is horrible. Downtown is being revitalized, not the right time to window shop. Maybe going to a specific restaurant, but parking is no joke. My husband and I went to the theater.....it needs an uplift.

Homeless everywhere............dark at night, bars on every corner, panhandlers and cheapest parking is $25 for 8 hours. If yiou like questionable people in crowds, gnagbangers looking for others, etc.this is the place for you. Sacramento is still a cowtown mentality and crime is rampant.
