A gorgeous beach with lovely sand surrounds the rock, it’s a quiet area with limited cars and parking no facilities other than toilets but it’s only a short walk to shops and restaurants. We had a lovely run in the morning to the rock and...More

I've never been to Morro Bay and enjoyed our short time here. The weather was great and I was able to take several pictures and wander around the dock area. Next visit, I hope to see more of the area.

I wouldn't let my kids run around here unattended but the rock and the bay are very interesting and pretty. I especially enjoyed watching the sea otters. Don't try to feed the squirrels, they have some mean docents around who will holler at you.

Didn't know that you can drive your car on to the Rock until we visited this place over the weekend. Very pretty and a view of the bay and wild life. There were about 100 Sea Otters in the water right off the rocks feeding...More

Very odd, and strange looking but very interesting. Looks like something from the Clash of the Titians

Stuck out in the sea with surf beach on one side and sheltered harbour with otters on the other. Playful squirrels romp amongst the rock wall too

Visible from miles away, this huge volcanic plug draws your attention to its bulk and the surrounding waters and sandbar. You cannot actually climb the rock, but you can walk most of the way around it from the park below. Parking is available. Also, you...More

Cute touristy downtown with shops and eating spots. Great view of the bay though you do have to overlook the power plant

The rock is an impressive site close up. There is a short history sign that is interesting. The para sailers at the beach provide great entertainment. Sea otters abound in the sheltered areas. A nice place to stop and go for a walk.

You don't realize how big this thing is until you get close up! It was a very fun stop for us along our journey on route 1. To hear the waves crashing and look up at this huge rock - very fun.

There is a great Bird Festival weekend in mid-January. It is also pupping season at the elephant seal rookery just north of San Simeon, less than an hour away. Lots of year-round hiking in Morro Bay, Montaña de Oro, Irish... More

Sorry, it is illegal to climb the Rock as it disturbs the birds and their nesting areas. I think someone tried a while back to propose to his girl friend and got arrested. I think some of the parks in the area have hiking... More
