Neighborhood bar on steroids

Got to love this amazing hole in the wall. You can tell people here ome here to unwind relax and get away from the showy Hollywood bull. Bigfoot lodge provides a space the emulates the camp of the 50s but with a modern twist. The music is from the 80's but it all seems to fit. Our bar tender is sassy but respectful and pours a mean old fashion. This is a must see when coming to the Hollywood district but keep your stat gazing to the side.

I had drinks with friends at Bigfoot while visiting LA recently end really enjoyed myself. The place has the perfect mix of offbeat, backwoods decor and inviting, friendly accessibility.

I'm an Eagle Scout. No shame in that. Made me the fella I am today. Trustworthy, loyal, helpful, all that crap. Spent many nights of my formative years in tents and cabins all over the place. Built fires, hiked til I learned that I hate hiking, tied all sorts of stuff up in amazing knots, sliced the hell out of my hand carving that stupid neckerchief slide with a dull pocket knife (lost a corner off my Totin' Chip for that one). Learned how to speak in front of people, stuff that really serves me well to this day.

But sometimes I wonder what that whole chapter of my life would have been like if it were soaked in tequila and gunpowder and wrapped in black leather. What if my hiking boots had been exchanged for engineer boots and a chainwallet. What if the troop number on my Class A uniform had changed from 630 to 666?

After paying a visit to the Bigfoot, I have a pretty solid idea of how that might have went.

We went there right when they opened at 5pm, so it was pretty much just us, the bartender, and the Kid Rock pumping out of the speakers. I was delighted as my memories of my formative years ran headlong into who I am today. We hit the happy hour drink menu hard and fast, like a giddy teenager raiding their parents liquor cabinet. The log cabin decor mixed with the sturdy-poured beverages made for one happy eagle scout.

Rumor has it, the place really gets going later in the evening, so I'll have to check that out on our next trip out to Cali and report back.
