This nearly five-mile stretch of beach is popular with families but also draws surfers and skin divers to the water and runners and cyclists to the boulevard bordering the beach.

We stayed right across the street from the beach at the Ocean Palms. We spent a lot of time on the beach. Definitely one of the cleanest beaches we’ve ever seen in the US! Everyone just knows the drill to pick up after yourself. If...More

Well this is my local beach and I love it. Great for a jog or walk. First visited in '84 to surf with my cousins and it has only gotten better.

Going again now! Still the best waterfront walk in town. I leave from downtown and walk to the NRG power plant and back, about 3 miles.

Very clean, no seaweed or kelp, fun waves, not crowded, fun town. Easy to walk or run along the wide sidewalk. Lots of surfers and boogie boarders. Fun atmosphere.

You can either walk along the street above the beach or walk down along the beach for foot traffic only. 1.4 miles each way with direct views of pods of dolphins, water spouts, and walking distance to many fun, touristy shops.

No dogs allowed, sadly. I've seen them there off leash before but I wouldn't risk it. Del Mar beach is the closest dog beach, which is another 10 miles south.
