Traveling to Santillana del Mar is very much like stepping back in time. The plaza was bustling and full of life, and there were many families and children everywhere.

Wandering through the village, we naturally came across this big square. The buildings around it are begging to be photographed so we duly obliged!

Cars are a rare sight whn strolling the narrow streets of Santillana del Mar. They are generally hidden from view in the old village except for deliveries.

The church sits in the square and makes for a pretty background. Very quiet in the off season. Sit awhile and if you’re lucky a musician will be playing.

Santillna del Mar is a charming little medieval town which everyone must visit. The only problem is that it is full of tourists during the summer months. I suggest a visit in October or November.

Open until 7.00 pm and cost only 3 euros.The inside contained architecture of the middle ages, it seems that you're in another era.

Santillana del Mar (is not beside the sea) but it is so worth a visit. The entire town is composed of old beautiful buildings with lots of restaurants in the cobblelocked streets. We arrived on a Monday in late September but by 8.30 most restaurants...More
