About this tomb, one of the row of the "Royal Tombs", we know almost nothing, beyond what appears from direct observation. We only know that it dates back to the first century AD, i.e. the "golden age" of Petra. We can infer that it was the tomb, if not of a king, then of a very high dignitary.
There is general agreement on the fact that the nickname "Silk Tomb" refers to the multicolored veins of the sandstone from which the tomb is built (veining actually also present in other tombs in the area), which allow us to compare external and internal walls with a richly decorated silk drape.
The architecture of the facade is also remarkable. It appears divided into three rectangular panels. The lower one, twice as high as the other two (therefore almost square), is crossed throughout its entire height by four semi-columns: the entrance door and a niche are carved between the two central ones.
The panel above has pilasters and mouldings, the top panel has two sets of five steps each facing each other (a frequent motif in Petra).

Tomba di Seta, which is Italian, is known as the Silk Tomb in English. The rainbow-hued tomb is the most colorful tomb in Petra. The Tomba di Seta is an element of a sequence of tombs. The wavy-colored tomb is worth making a short detour to see.

The combination of colours in the rock facade makes this a very nice place to visit. It's a short way up from the main road.

Located between the Urn & Corinthian Tombs, it's the swirling colours of the rocks that make this such an interesting facade and worth climbing up to see.

The Silk Tonb is renowned for its magnificent stone facade of different wavy shades of sandstone.
It has well worth a visit and is a short climb up from the main Wadi or Ouher Siq. The views down the valley are magnificent from up here. There's a whole row of tombs to explore here and they are worth every bit of the considerable time they take.

After admiring the Treasury, at ancient world heritage site besides Petra, we saw the impressive Tomba di Seta, which is very close to the Treasury.

Located just outside main route of Petra park (small detour), this is a sequence of royal tombs is quite impressive in size, one of the biggest structures within the complex. Access to the tombs is restricted, yet there are some nice photo opportunities.

This tomb is part of the royal tombs which are a small climb to the right of the main trail as you head towards the Basin. Quite fascinating how the sandstone displays the various colours.

A small tomb on the side trail, but I think it has some of the nicest rock colouring of all the tombs in Petra. Really stunning facade!
