We booked onto a class at Petra Kitchen that immediately followed our day at Petra. Petra Kitchen is situated a five minute walk from the visitor centre and was very easy to find. We were treated to some lemon juice upon arrival and were surprised to find that it was only the two of us booked onto our session. We were impressed that despite a small turn out, the class still ran. We are thankful that it did, as the food we cooked under the supervision of head-chef Reda was the best we ate in Jordan!

The meal consisted of Soup (Lentil), Cold Mezza (Baba ghanoush, Fattoush, Tahini salad), Hot Mezza (Qalayet bandoura) and a main course of Maqluba. Reda was personable and knew his stuff, we were given regular tips on ways to effectively prepare the ingredients and improve our cooking techniques.

Once we had cooked and eaten, we were treated to tea and dessert and provided with printouts of all the recipes that we had cooked during the session. We had a fantastic time and easily recommend to anyone who enjoys food! A highlight of our holiday!

As the time is limited there were many things already prepared which is a bit of a shame not to learn

We had great fun learning how to cook some traditional dishes. The food was excellent and we got given the recipes to take home. Everyone was relaxed and had fun. I would definitely recommend this experience.

I had an incredible time at Petra Kitchen! This place offers a one-of-a-kind experience where you get to learn and cook authentic Arabic traditional dishes with the guidance of their professional staff. The use of pure and high-quality ingredients, including fresh vegetables, chicken, and meats, made the entire experience even more special

The lesson was really amazing, the chef explained all the dishes that we would have cooked in order to give un an insight of everything. Then, we started cooking the cold dishes before moving to the warm mezze and the main course. At the end of the lesson, we tasted everything we cooked (vegeterian menu available). Before leaving, we received all the recipes we cooked written on a piece of paper and, upon request, they also gave us additional recipes. Highly recommended!!

Happy to have been in a great cooking class at Petra Kitchen. The menus and instruction were great, and I will defiantly make some of the recipes at home. It was a participation class and we all had to slice, and dice, etc. But when we were done, we settled into a great meal and conversation with our fellow cooks. Highly recommend taking this Jordanian cooking class.

We booked for a ‘cooking’ lesson and the chefs were pleasant enough. There was very, very little that I did not know about in the cooking processes and there were too many ‘guests’ for any real interaction between staff and customer. The resulting food was at the very least, freshly cooked, you knew what had gone into the dishes and hot and tasty - which compared to the ‘International’ hotels in the area is a major plus.

I have to say I approached this with a degree of negativity having had a long coach journey from Amman and the thought of having to cook my own dinner was not something I looked forward to.
But I was pleasantly surprised; this was fun and the food at the end of better than I had hoped.
It took a while to get started and appeared a bit disorganised but once you where allocated a table/food station and an assistant chef came to assist us and guide us through our creation we never looked back.
Each person is allocated a task towards the end dish which is then taken away for cooking. Your chopping skills are certainly put to the test throughout and there is no real hiding place.
After about 45/60 minutes of prep table are set and food (that you have prepped) is served. As I said I was pleasantly surprised with a number of tasty dishes with plenty of food available for all.
Highly recommended

This was a highlight of our trip to Jordan. The chef was so friendly and the cooking class was really enjoyable. We made a wide range of traditional Jordanian dishes. Make sure you are hungry before going - the amount of food was huge! The chef explained what went into the dishes and also helped with our technique. The rest of the staff there were also lovely. You get to take home a recipe book so you can continue cooking at home. We absolutely loved our evening here!
