We booked for a ‘cooking’ lesson and the chefs were pleasant enough. There was very, very little that I did not know about in the cooking processes and there were too many ‘guests’ for any real interaction between staff and customer. The resulting food was at the very least, freshly cooked, you knew what had gone into the dishes and hot and tasty - which compared to the ‘International’ hotels in the area is a major plus.

I have to say I approached this with a degree of negativity having had a long coach journey from Amman and the thought of having to cook my own dinner was not something I looked forward to.
But I was pleasantly surprised; this was fun and the food at the end of better than I had hoped.
It took a while to get started and appeared a bit disorganised but once you where allocated a table/food station and an assistant chef came to assist us and guide us through our creation we never looked back.
Each person is allocated a task towards the end dish which is then taken away for cooking. Your chopping skills are certainly put to the test throughout and there is no real hiding place.
After about 45/60 minutes of prep table are set and food (that you have prepped) is served. As I said I was pleasantly surprised with a number of tasty dishes with plenty of food available for all.
Highly recommended

This was a highlight of our trip to Jordan. The chef was so friendly and the cooking class was really enjoyable. We made a wide range of traditional Jordanian dishes. Make sure you are hungry before going - the amount of food was huge! The chef explained what went into the dishes and also helped with our technique. The rest of the staff there were also lovely. You get to take home a recipe book so you can continue cooking at home. We absolutely loved our evening here!

A fun evening, disappointing as cooking class goes. Each station only prepares one element of the earl, then it is combined to serve to all. EACh Station had 8 persons and the room s packed. No individual attention. Ingredients were super fresh and tasty and taffy friendly.

It was a great evening and perfect way to experience the local cuisine. The chef picked a lot of recipes and it seemed daunting seeing them all on the white board. We made them all. The chef was very patient and fun to work with. It was a very small class so we got a lot of tips (e.g. chopping faster safely). Only two suggestions: (1) make sure you are hungry so you can fully enjoy all the amazing food you prepare; (2) when making reservations is to ask how many people will be in the class since they can hold up to 40 which means less hands on time for each person.

Cooking your own food on vacation seems dumb, but this is actually...ok, I'll say it...a must do experience. I liked it a lot more than I thought I would. We were helping to prepare our meal under the watchful eye of very friendly chefs, and it really was a great and unique experience. You'll regret missing out on getting to do something like this. And by the way, it was really tasty when we at last got to eat it! We made friends, laughed, and embraced this memorable meal. It sounds weird to say it, but this is the sort of thing you will remember for a long time about your trip, and will regale your friends with tales that will make them jealous. I was a skeptic, and they won me over. Go, and have fun!

Great experience to do in the evening In Wadi Rum/Petra! Great price and you make so many traditional dishes, you will not go hungry. The chef is fantastic and the course is really interactive, you get the chef hat, aprons and recipes printouts to take home afterwards! Highly recommend for an evening before or after Petra!!!

One evening our group met at Petra Kitchen for a cooking class and dinner. We were divided at two tables with a chef at each table that directed us. We chopped parsley, tomatoes, cucumbers, bell peppers, onions and garlic - important ingredients in all Jordanian cooking, or so it seems. We watches as the chefs demonstrated how to make red lentil soup, several colorful salads, marinate fish, and make Jordanian pizza. The pizza turned out to be pita bread cut in half and stuffed with spiced ground lamb. Each pita pocket was brushed with olive oil and then baked in the oven. It was a fun evening and our dinner was delicious. Should you find yourself in Petra I urge you to spend an evening at Petra Kitchen.

Hey your review on TripAdvisor is quite helpful, is it a paid experience or is it included in Petra ticket price?
Thanks,Arooma

I paid extra for it. This is not part of any program organized by the Petra historical park but could be part of a package prepared by your tour organizer. Most tour companies that focus on Petra know about this place.
