This museum could probably be a great destination given its location overlooking the bay. However little effort has been put into the displays and you are virtually on your own going round it. Also although there are nice grounds with a great view no effort...More

The ship is a huge attraction and also the exhibits of antiques etc., however all the kids wanted to do was walk around the shell museum again. Excellent displays and the interactive tank is a high-light. The old post tree is always special. Well worth...More

If you have seen the wooden sailing ships once, you've been there, done that, unless you are a sailing enthusiast! This museum is pretty basic and didn't do much for me though my partner who is a sailor loved it!

Really enjoyed this fine maritime museum. Well done. Recommend it as a way to while away a few hours. The grounds surrounding are very nice as well.

Very pleasantly surprised stopping in here where the post office tree can be seen outside, a full replica of a 15th century sailing ship can be clambered in, over and on inside and a good half hour can be spent touching sea urchins, hermit crabs,...More

Had just completed the choo choo train when we decided to do the museum. It gives great information on Bartholomeu Diaz. Good to keep kids busy.

Have a good collection of a lot of things in the main maritime museum, the rest of the grounds are fun to explore as well! Feel that some areas need a bit of TLC but the experience is good and I've gone there multiple times.

Lots of interesting and little known history about the late-15th century Portugues, the native inhabitants and more generally the technology of sea-faring and exploration. Great reconstructed ship to scramble over. Unexpected and good acquarium and botanic trail included.

This museum is well worth a visit when in town. Some lovely natural history artefacts as well as the famed Post Office Tree. A great way to spend a few hours. Kids loved it and entry was cheap.
