Certainly lived up to expectations despite the rain.
Beautiful.
The dog loved it.
Will be back when the sun shines

This beach is stunning - miles of white sand to walk & a beautiful sunset to enjoy.
We found it such a restful, peaceful, still place to visit.

What visitors are not being told is that the only parking available was actually intended for legitimate cemetery users. Part of the unique culture of the islands demands peace and respect around cemeteries. Shamefully, tourists are not even being told that there is a cemetery adjacent to the beach, now the disrespectful behaviour of tourists is upsetting bereaved locals. Luskentyre is beautiful but it has a deeply held meaning for islanders as their families final resting place. The cemetery car park is not for beach users to abuse as a camp site, to hold barbecues and gatherings, a changing area (have some dignity) and the fence is not for drying clothes on. It is a place for quiet contemplation and if you can't behave with decency and dignity then stay away.

You've never seen water such a turquoise color and multiple shades of turquoise. Beatiful white sands in front and mountains behind and beside. Outstanding scenery and breathtakingly beautiful. Be sure to climb to the top of the sand dunes to try to get some pictures of the different colors of the water from more of an aerial view. You could also climb some of the adjacent mountain for similar views. Well worth a stop on your trip. Parking lot is chaos, but the view is worth it when you see it.

Luskentyre gets voted among the top 3 beaches in the UK, but I've yet to see a more spectacular beach in all our travels across the world. The road to Luskentyre itself is glorious, so we knew a real treat was in store when we arrived. Limited parking spots nearby. The water is a glittering turquoise with the most pristine sands anywhere. It was impossible to leave.

Amazing view once you get on the beach, beach car park was full, so did not stay. I did not park in cemetery car park as it says reserved for visiting patrons on fences not that it stopped others. I'd urge you to think of the grieving families when you decide where to park.

An absolutely stunning beach but it's unforgivable how many think it's acceptable to park up next to the cemetery, blocking those who wish to grieve from parking. Please, when visiting have some respect. The cemetery car park is for those visiting the cemetery, not the beach. Don't block this with your motor home, stop using the fence to dry your clothes, it's so disrespectful. If the other car park is full , move on. Its not the end of the world if you can't get onto this beach. Funerals are being blocked from getting down due to vehicles clogging up the area causing more stress to the bereaved. Does your wish to sit on a beach trump those who have lost a loved one and can no longer grieve at their grave due to your selfish parking? Their is no overnight parking here either but still you insist. Have some respect for the people who live here and be respectful just for once. Do you go and block cemeteries on the mainland? Just for once, stop, think and be respectful. Cemetery fences are not washing lines...

An amazing beach with sensational sand and turquoise sea. Quite a long drive with single track roads but well worth the effort. However parking at the official site is very limited especially if the weather is great. A helpful warden was there. We couldn’t park our Campervan so left and parked alongside a beautiful cemetery. There was a path down to the beach. An amazing vista, which was great for walking our dogs. Great photo opportunity too.

There are a couple of spots on the single track road to Luskentyre which have an honesty box - you'll see them. But it depends who gets there first!
There is a campsite about 5 mins or so drive away at Horgabost/Nisabost but check with Talla na Mara Community Centre re whether they are open. They weren't when we were there in July but that may have changed.Talla na Mara may also advise on other sites nearby.

Where are there serviced lots for a motor home and can you recommend a 5 day route with sites to cover Harris & Lewis.

Sorry for the delay in replying. I can not recommend any service lots as our holiday had a base where we travelled around each day! In 5 days however you will be able to cover much of Harris and Lewis! I hope you have an amazing trip!

I'm looking to visit Luskentyre Beach again but will be bringing a caravan this time. Are there any campsites with electric hook up nearby?

There have been several overnight campervan pitches built in fantastic locations, there are a couple on the Luskentyre road and some more overlooking Huishnish. Unfortunately I didn't notice electric hook ups but then again I wasn't looking but hope this helps.

Think a car is a must or bike ifyou are fit! saw many cyclists do the Hebridean way. not sure about buses but do a search on google for harris bus tours. did see a few bus tours at many points.😀

Where can you stay nearby....all I found was all the way up in Stornaway...and everything I read said to stay away from Stornway..its the least prettiest place on the Isles.

Yes its probably true that the town isn't the most charismatic on the island but only because the rest is so scenic and Stornoway is the main port.
How are you traveling
hi has anyone been married here? if so, can you recommend who to use, where to stay etc?
