Undaunted (well, maybe a little bit daunted) by the website stating they're currently closed other than to groups of 15+, I emailed the brewery and was told I could drop by and knock on the door and we could do a tasting if anyone was available. This ended up being a highlight of the trip as there was no one there between me and my companion, and we tasted all the beers in which we were interested, got a tour of the brew room, and even tasted a new beer right from the fermentation tank. They loaded us up with swag and more beer than we could actually carry, which we ended up sharing that evening with our nearby B&B owners. I can't say you'll have the same experience we did, but the people are friendly and there's a wide range of quality beers (even for a US beer snob). A bit out of the way, but definitely worth a visit if you're in the Selfoss area.

Nice local brewery with tasty and intwresting beers. We were with 5, and tried quite a number of beers, ranging from normal 'ales' to dark smoked Imperial Stouts and IPAs.
Very friendly staff adviced us very well o what beers to try (given our preferences) and had a nice chat about Iceland, other breweries etc. The beer was amazing!!!
Also gave us some advice on worthwhile places to visit around the area, where to go and where not to go.

If you like beer and want to visit a brewery, highly recommend this place!!!

We had been on a supertruck-tour all day, exploring the wilderness, Gullfoss, Geysir etc. A wonderful day! Then stopping for some beer- tasting and it was so much fun! And tasty!! Perfect host! We went from a little bit tired, to ecstatic :-D

Located just off of the ring road near Selfoss. Located on a farm - there are some horses right before the driveway. It was not busy, only one other couple showed up while our group of 6 was here.

They have 8 beers in tap and you can buy certain ones in bottles. We tried all 8. I prefer the fruitier ones, my friend likes IPAs. They sell merch and have funny books all along the wall. They don't serve hot food, only packaged snacks. They gave us complimentary bottles of a special edition glacier lagoon beer with our purchase. Nice bartender, he recommended places to eat and drink in Reykjavik.

If you ever stop at Mia's Country Van in Hella, the beer battered fish is made with Olvisholt beer. See my separate review.

Their california steam beer is magical. This is an off the beaten path location, but the tasting room is a great stop and they are friendly.

Always looking for a place to have a beer, especially breweries or taprooms. Located at 15k West from Hella, the brewery is located in an old barn. Limited parking outside, and your not sure this is the place, but once inside, you’ll be happy.
There were 10 beers on tap, with others available in bottles. You can get flights with samples of most beers.
Head brewer is a young lady, who also waited on us. Very friendly and willing to talk about her beers.
No food available, but bring in some snacks, no problem.
Really enjoyed our time here

I suggest this stop if you have any interest in beer. You can do a brewery tour to get to know the brewers, see their process and see their facilities. If that is not your thing, you can also just hang around and get a beer from their bar.

This brewery doesn't look like much from the outside and is a bit off the beaten path, but the inside is lovely, the service was fantastic, the beer tasty. We had a great time and are glad we went!
